This post is sponsored by Love The Wild.

This post offers an opportunity to speak about the importance of keeping an open mind when it comes to diet and nutrition. I will admit that for many years, I was anti farm-raised seafood. I wish I could tell you the specific reasons why, but to be honest it was mostly due to outside influences and not my own research.

MEET LOVETHEWILD – SUSTAINABLE, RESTAURANT-QUALITY SEAFOOD AT HOME

Recently, I was approached with the opportunity to partner with LoveTheWild. They offer sustainably-sourced, restaurant-quality seafood with a goal to make sustainable aquaculture the norm.

The combination of how much seafood (especially fish) that I eat along with what I researched and read about the company made me say yes to the partnership.

LoveTheWild offers Seafood Kits and Microwaveable Bowls that could not be easier to prepare! While I am very comfortable cooking seafood, I know that it can be intimidating for many people. LoveTheWild makes seafood preparation at home simple and doable!

LoveTheWild Seafood Kits

The Seafood Kits are ready in under 30 minutes and feature an easy 3-step prep/cooking process. The seafood is cooked in parchment with the opportunity to add more of your own ingredients as desired.

LoveTheWild Microwaveable Bowls

The Microwaveable Bowls give you a restaurant-quality meal in under 5 minutes.

Both the Seafood Kits and the Microwaveable Bowls feature non-GMO ingredients, are gluten-free and antibiotic-free, feature earth-friendly packaging and sustainable and traceable seafood.

LoveTheWild

I have had both the the Seafood Kits and the Microwaveable Bowls for dinner recently and I can confidently say that both are very tasty!

LoveTheWild Baja Style Fish Taco Bowl

Love, love the Baja Style Fish Taco Bowls! Especially topped with some avocado and plain greek yogurt.

AQUACULTURE

If you’re like me you are wondering what the heck “aquaculture” means. Luckily, I had a call with one of the founders of LoveTheWild and learned all about aquaculture as well as the health benefits of eating seafood.

Aquaculture is farming in water of aquatic animals or fish for food. Did you know that it takes LESS food, water and space to grow healthy and nutritious fish in an environmentally friendly way than it does to farm any other animal?

benefits of aquaculture

This is a BIG deal when you think about what it will take to feed our growing population without using up all of our resources.

WHY AQUACULTURE?

  1. Farmed fish have the same Omega-3 content as wild fish.
  2. Drugs, chemicals and hormones are rarely used in aquaculture. Farmed fish can be completely free of PCBs, mercury and other contaminants.
  3. Relieves pressure on wild fish stocks. Overfishing has reduced stocks 50% since 1970.
  4. ZERO by catch. No animals are unintentionally harmed by fishing lines and nets.

Aquaculture best practices have improved greatly over the last 30 years, making it possible to grow healthy fish without using antibiotics, wild fish as feed or environmental toxins.

LoveTheWild Microwaveable Bowls

One of my favorite things about the LoveTheWild Bowls (besides their delicious taste) is that on the back you can read where the fish is from all the way to the region, farm and farmer!

BENEFITS OF EATING FISH

LoveTheWild Seafood Kits

90% of Americans don’t eat the USDA recommended amount of seafood.

Can we talk about how much protein there is in fish?

Protein in Fish

WHOA! I found this to be fascinating!

In addition to protein, each species of fish delivers a different combo of important vitamins and minerals. Fish also excels at bringing you long chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA with LESS saturated fat that other animal proteins. These Omega-3 fatty acids are good for your heart and brain, and also reduce the inflammatory process that leads to many chronic conditions.

LoveTheWild Shrimp

I am really looking forward to this partnership with LoveTheWild and to sharing more of their delicious, sustainable aquaculture products with you!

Finn and I have been eating a lot of LoveTheWild products lately and I can confidently say that we are BOTH a fan! Finn is a big fan of the shrimp dishes!

And I am a huge fan of how easy it is to pull the LoveTheWild Seafood Kits and Microwaveable Bowls out of the freezer and have dinner ready super quickly with minimal to no work at all.

LoveTheWild

Did you know that today about half of all seafood for human consumption is produced through aquaculture? I’m so grateful that I have learned more about this sustainable farming practice so that I can open up my seafood options even more!

LoveTheWild bowls are available… at Earth Fare, Lucky’s Market, MOM’s Organic Market, HEB (37 stores), Wegmans (26 stores), Plum Market, PeaPod (online grocery store with delivery in Chicago), Alfalfa’s (CO), Natural Grocers (CO, UT) and FreshDirect. Coming in May to Target!

LoveTheWild Kits are available… in Whole Foods Markets nationwide and are coming soon to Wegmans, FreshDirect, Earthfare and MOMs.
