Upcoming 2025 Running Adventures

2025 has gotten off to a slow start on the running front. I was on such a high after the Every Woman’s Marathon in Savannah last November that I thought I’d surely capitalize on that fitness and run a spring marathon. But then a series of events ranging from the flu to travel to career changes happened…and it eventually didn’t make sense to add marathon training into the mix. I look back at my last marathon training cycle and feel a bit of awe and disbelief that I was able to truly prioritize my training cycle and have such a positive race experience. While I miss running consistently and running long, I know it was the right decision to forgo a spring marathon with everything that’s been on my plate. Marathon training is very time and energy consuming!

The good news is that the second half of the year is certainly going to make up for the lack of racing in the first half of the year! I’m so excited to share the upcoming running adventures that I have planned with you guys in this post. BIG and FUN stuff ahead!!!!

AUGUST 4-9: TRANSROCKIES RUN

In August I will be heading to the Colorado Rockies to join a field of 350 participants for the 2025 TransRockies Run – aka Summer Camp for Big Kids. It’s a 6-day stage race that spans 120 miles.

“120 miles and 20,000 feet of climbing means it’s no ordinary run. With elevations up to 12,500 feet, high mountain passes, creek crossings and rough terrain, TransRockies RUN is a true challenge. It’s a difficult but doable bucket-list undertaking for those seeking true outdoor adventure. At the same time, however, TransRockies Run is a unique gathering of the trail strider tribe. Coming together to revel in the fresh air, shared sense of accomplishment, and lots of laughs, our runners experience a mass migration through the Colorado Rockies that nourishes the soul as it tests the body.”

Each day we will cover 13 to 24 miles on a mix of trails, dirt/gravel roads and paved roads at elevations ranging from 7,000 to 13,000 feet. We are given nine hours to finish each stage, and are fully supported on course. Each night the race organizers set up a “tent city” where we camp and they move our large duffle for us every day to the next location. At camp each day we are supplied with shower trucks, food tents, charging stations and optional services like massage therapy, compression boots, yoga, etc.

I. AM. SO. EXCITED.  And a healthy dose of scared lol.

I am most nervous about the effort at altitude because we just have no way to train for that here in North Carolina. Luckily, heat training is the best substitute for altitude training and I’ll have plenty of exposure to that running in June and July in the south. I expect the first few days of the race to feel really hard but hopefully we will acclimate and feel stronger the last few days.

I’m currently in the process of getting my head wrapped around how to properly train for this race. I’ve started doing longer and harder hiking efforts and back-to-back days with a lot of climb. The thing is I can only get out on the trails like that once or twice a month with my work and parenting schedule. I’ll also be doing a lot of long runs, and more back-to-back long run days than I would do for a typical training cycle.

I first heard about the TransRockies Run through someone that I’ve followed on Instagram for years and years. She participated in last year’s event and I was absolutely riveted by her Instagram stories. I just had this insanely strong urge to go for it.

I had a DM exchange with Claire and then asked my hiking friends if anyone was interested in doing TransRockies with me. After receiving some reassurance from Claire that a lot of walking/hiking was reasonable and a receiving a YES from two of my friends – I signed up for 2025!

I’m so glad that I did because this is the last year of the TransRockies Run!

You better believe I’ll be taking y’all with me through my prep – everything from gear (mind blown by how much I need to get together) to mindset to training. And then I hope to write some pretty epic recaps of the experience! Oh and FYI – I think there are literally like five spots left so if anyone wants to join us – COME ON! My friends and I would love to hang out with you!

NOVEMBER 16, 2025: EVERY WOMAN’S MARATHON

I am so, so very excited to share that I will be participating in the 2025 Every Woman’s Marathon – IN SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m teaming up with PET Dairy again and joining Team Milk to run this incredible race for the second year!  Last year’s race in Savannah was the best race of my life. It was an indescribable feeling to line up with thousands of other women and to run 26.2 in celebration of our strength. It was hands-down the most rewarding marathon I’ve ever participated in and I cannot wait to do it again.

jen Eddins every woman's marathonThis year’s race is moving from Savannah and taking place in Scottsdale. I’ve never been to Arizona and I’ve heard that November is a perfect time of year to visit!

If you’re looking for a fall marathon, or considering running your first marathon, I cannot recommend the Every Woman’s Marathon enough. The whole race experience was phenomenal and it was so special to run alongside so many strong and inspiring women. The vibes were 100%!!!!!

Please let me know if you’re interested in joining a virtual team or if you’d like to receive my marathon training plan. Just leave a comment below or shoot me an email! You can also join my running email list here.

So as you can see, it’s going to be a big summer/fall for me. YAY FOR RUNNING!
