I truly appreciate your encouragement and kind words on today’s post. I really needed to get that out there. I promise to keep you updated on how things are going – good and bad.
You know what helps when you’re feeling blah?
The cute face of my sunbathing sweet golden retriever! 😉 Seriously, it’s 90 degrees out but Sullie loves to bake in the sun. Crazy dog.
Backing up…let’s talk about dinner last night because it was so good!
Brandon fired up the Big Green Egg and grilled shrimp for him, salmon for me and okra. This was our first okra of the season and it was delicious! I love summer veggies.
I’ve been craving salmon for weeks now so this really hit the spot. I seasoned my fish with Dizzy Pig Shakin’ the Tree. We had a roll and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers on the side. It was such a lovely evening to hang out on the patio.
I picked up my first few peaches of the summer last weekend at the farmer’s market. We grilled them last night with brown sugar and cinnamon and served them over ice cream. Here’s the recipe! I am pretty much obsessed with ice cream anyway and when topped with warm fruit, it’s out of this world good!
So I got up at 5:15 this morning to practice ashtanga before work. And then I didn’t get to practice. I actually ended up having to unexpectedly teach the class because our teacher wasn’t able to make it (this never happens). I was a little grumpy about it at first because my time is so limited and I really wanted to be practicing or running but there is this part of me that just can’t not teach if someone needs help.
Breakfast at my desk was overnight oats. I was really excited about these overnight oats because they were in an almost empty almond butter jar but they ended up not really sitting well in my stomach. I don’t know what my issue was today.
I ate a really late lunch (it was 3 p.m. before I was hungry) of a salad, half an apple and honey wheat pretzel sticks. The salad had leftover grilled shrimp, mixed greens, carrots, tomatoes, almonds, dried cranberries and feta with lemon dijon vinaigrette.
You know what else helps when you’re feeling blah? Exercise.
I ran a hot and sweaty 3.5 miles after work today before teaching BodyPump. It was so necessary. I am happy to report that my running itch has been satisfied and my arms are noodley-feeling after BodyPump. We had a great class – 40 participants!
Dinner was leftover chicken enchiladas with a side salad. I’m really wanting some dessert right now but we ate all of the ice cream last night!
How do you beat the blahs? Does exercise help? I think pets, exercise and a relaxing evening with wine are a big help!
