I am pretty disciplined about my yoga practice. There are certain yoga classes that I love to attend and try not to miss. One of those is the Saturday morning Super Flow at Y2. Despite the early 7:30 starting time, I never have a problem motivating myself to get out of bed for it because it’s such a fun class. I think it may be the 62 day challenge finally beginning to take a toll on me but when my alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. I promptly turned it off and went back to sleep until 8:15.
This ended up being perfect because when I awoke the second time I remembered that one of my favorite teachers was teaching the 9 a.m. at Charlotte Yoga. I rarely practice anywhere other than Y2 so a change of yoga scenery sounded appealing. While I love practicing at Y2, it is nice sometimes to walk into a studio and not know anyone or have to catch up on the latest news.
And while the class was no where near as intense as super flow, it was exactly what I needed and completely perfect. Thank you, Suzanne (xoxo). You jut can’t (and don’t have to) go “super flow hard” every day. Instead of leaving completely physically exhausted, I left feeling content and energized. Day 12 of 62 done.
When I arrived home from yoga I assembled a quick frittata for brunch. I sautéed onions, mushrooms, green chiles and crumbled soy sausage and then heated a cast iron skillet with a bit of butter and poured in 5 lightly beaten eggs, the sautéed mix ins, shredded cheese and parsley. I cooked the eggs over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes until they began to set and then placed the skillet under the broiler to finish cooking, about 3 more minutes. Served with toast and fruit. Delicious!
I spent Saturday afternoon planning for today’s bootcamp and yoga class and then we got ready for a family get together.
It was my sweet niece’s second birthday!
To say that she was not excited about being the center of attention during the birthday song would be an understatement. 😉
Luckily big sister was there to help with candle blowing out. Once cupcake eating started, all was good!
Sunday update (it was a working day!) coming a little later. I’m off to cook dinner. Hope it’s been a great weekend for everyone!

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
