Happy Friday everyone.

I’ve got nadda to show you on the food/life front although I assure you that you aren’t missing anything. My life has been extremely photo unworthy over the past couple of days. I’m just doing the best I can to even get through this week right now.

However, I do have several other things to share with you that run the gamut from Google Reader news to some interesting links to read to new music. Let’s get started on that.

1) The end of Google Reader.

Google Reader is shutting down on July 1, 2013! I am pretty distraught about this given that I have been reading blogs through Google Reader for over 5 years now. BUT I’m here to offer you an alternative that I may even like better!

Welcome to Feedly! It’s another RSS service that allows you to pull all of your favorite content from the web into one easy place to read. I like the clean, organized layout of the site. I especially like that you can set the reading pain to show previews and a picture and that you can organize blogs into different categories.

The migration from Google Reader to Feedly was super simple. I created an account, connected to Google Reader and within minutes I was ready to read in Feedly.

Google Reader users – What RSS reader are you transitioning to?

2) Read this.

10 Reasons Why CrossFitters Should Practice Yoga by Tabata Times. I have to wholly agree with everything in this article. I have always found it interesting that one of CrossFit’s 10 fitness domains is flexibility when so many of CrossFit athletes I see have limited mobility.

“Most of the classical poses in yoga support the same concepts of creating torque, finding a braced neutral spinal position, and always working from core to extremity.”

How Do You Decide Who To Marry? (Written by kids.) Not only funny but there’s a lot of truth coming out of these young mouths.

My personal favorite…if only it were so simple.

How would you make a marriage work? “Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.” – Ricky, age 10

3) Listen to this.

It’s the new single from The Civil Wars. I love this duo but they’ve been through some seemingly tough stuff lately and cancelled most of their last tour. I’m honestly very surprised that they are putting out a new album but I can’t wait for it. So much tension in this video.

And finally, happy first day of summer and logest day of the year!

Bring on the ‘mater sandwiches, cookouts, evening walks with the pup, pool days, beach trips, watermelon and all that good stuff!

Have a great weekend!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Big Bear Peaks + Pines Race Recap (3-Day Stage Race, My First 50k)

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. Reading, Watching, Listening (Spring 2026 Edition)

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
