Happy Friday everyone.
I’ve got nadda to show you on the food/life front although I assure you that you aren’t missing anything. My life has been extremely photo unworthy over the past couple of days. I’m just doing the best I can to even get through this week right now.
However, I do have several other things to share with you that run the gamut from Google Reader news to some interesting links to read to new music. Let’s get started on that.
1) The end of Google Reader.
Google Reader is shutting down on July 1, 2013! I am pretty distraught about this given that I have been reading blogs through Google Reader for over 5 years now. BUT I’m here to offer you an alternative that I may even like better!
Welcome to Feedly! It’s another RSS service that allows you to pull all of your favorite content from the web into one easy place to read. I like the clean, organized layout of the site. I especially like that you can set the reading pain to show previews and a picture and that you can organize blogs into different categories.
The migration from Google Reader to Feedly was super simple. I created an account, connected to Google Reader and within minutes I was ready to read in Feedly.
Google Reader users – What RSS reader are you transitioning to?
2) Read this.
– 10 Reasons Why CrossFitters Should Practice Yoga by Tabata Times. I have to wholly agree with everything in this article. I have always found it interesting that one of CrossFit’s 10 fitness domains is flexibility when so many of CrossFit athletes I see have limited mobility.
“Most of the classical poses in yoga support the same concepts of creating torque, finding a braced neutral spinal position, and always working from core to extremity.”
– How Do You Decide Who To Marry? (Written by kids.) Not only funny but there’s a lot of truth coming out of these young mouths.
My personal favorite…if only it were so simple.
How would you make a marriage work? “Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.” – Ricky, age 10
3) Listen to this.
It’s the new single from The Civil Wars. I love this duo but they’ve been through some seemingly tough stuff lately and cancelled most of their last tour. I’m honestly very surprised that they are putting out a new album but I can’t wait for it. So much tension in this video.
And finally, happy first day of summer and logest day of the year!
Bring on the ‘mater sandwiches, cookouts, evening walks with the pup, pool days, beach trips, watermelon and all that good stuff!
Have a great weekend!
I’ve been using Feedly and like it pretty ok!
Also, there’s a super-moon this weekend 🙂 Love that.
I’ve been using Feedly as well- it’s getting the job done and I imagine that with an influx of new users it will only be improving in the future (hopefully).
Summer solstice may be my favorite holiday- yay summer!
i think it is going to improve because they’ve made it an open API so hopefully that will help with innovations and making it more functional and slicker!
I indeed feel like a look like a truck some days. That’s just precious though 🙂
🙂 we all do!
I LOVE Feedly. I started using it as soon as I heard google reader was going away and the switch has been great for me!
The tomato sandwich looks delicious! I am using Feedly as well. I like the organization of it and the functionality. Just two complaints: 1) in a category on the left pane, if you accidentally click on the number, it will clear all of your unread posts! It’s a good feature, but I wish they had an “are you sure” pop-up! 2) Sometimes it’s not syncing too well between my web portal and my iphone app. Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with those?
oh #1 is good to know. thank you!
mmm, that juicy heirloom tomato on your sandwich looks juicy delicious!
Hmm, I’m not even familiar with Google Reader…or Feedly. So you can organize blogs and the like on one place?
I am using FeedDemon
I’m going to miss Google Reader! I’ve been using Feedly as well and it’s alright, but I liked Google Reader quite a bit better!
thanks for the reminder that i need to get on my yoga game! i just started crossfit recently and absolutely love it – but yoga, not so much. someone needs to drag me to a class! for starters i definitely need to get better about stretching, though.
and MMMM that sandwich looks delicious!
