This week was…insane. There is no other word for it. January in the fitness industry is everything that it’s hyped up to be. I was booked solid with clients and classes and my inbox overfloweth with many other fitness and training related opportunities. I also have a list of things about a mile long that I need to do/want to do for Metro from a marketing/social perspective. This is totally amazing and totally overwhelming all at the same time. I want to accommodate everyone and everything but sometimes it’s just not possible. This is when it’s so tough to work in an industry that you love. I have put soooo much personal stuff on the back burner that I’m making a priority to get done in the next week or two. More on that soon! I really enjoy sharing career and work/life balance stuff with you.
Here’s a look at the last couple of days and last week’s workouts.
PB & J Smoothie with greek yogurt, coconut almond milk, blueberries, banana, peanut butter and ice.
Salad extravaganza with spinach, mixed greens and arugula, chick peas, pine nuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, feta, beets and salmon with balsamic.
The most delicious dinner. Black bean burger with goat cheese and Sriracha aioli topped with avocado, baked marinated portobello mushroom, sauteed broccolini and baked squash. I never buy broccolini and it was such a nice change!
Take out sushi after a marathon Friday that included a 6:30 a.m. yoga practice, 8:30 a.m. teach yoga, noon teach yoga, 3 p.m. photo shoot, 4 p.m. training client, 5 p.m. training client, 6 p.m. wine with a friend and 7:30 p.m. yoga teacher training thing. LONG DAY that necessitated sushi on the couch at 10 p.m.
And here are this week’s workouts…
Monday
30 minute treadmill hill/sprint interval workout + strength training.
I did a variation of my treadmill sprint workout but with 10 minutes of hill intervals before the sprint intervals. Then I did my total body weight room workout that I posted earlier this week.
Tuesday
Hot vinyasa yoga + 20 minute treadmill run
This was the day it was 8 degrees outside.
I showed up to teach hot yoga wearing mittens, two jackets, shorts with pants over, a scarf and a hat. But I can assure you my yogis got warm in class. Lots and lots of flow! 🙂
Wednesday
Self-programmed WOD + Hot Vinyasa Yoga
I taught CrossFit and had 45 minutes before yoga so I did a quick self-programmed WOD before class to warm me up. It was stupid cold outside and I was freezing in the gym.
4 rounds for time:
500 meter row
15 v-ups
25 kettlebell swings
It kept my heart rate up! I tried to do negative splits on the 500 meter row so that really challenged me.
Thursday
Teach BodyPump + 20 minutes on the AMT while I read SELF magazine and listed to the Ellie Goulding station on Panora. It was heavenly. Metro doesn’t have an AMT so I always love to use it at the Y.
Friday
Recovery day. Very chill yoga practice.
Saturday
An amazing run!
I cannot get over how good I have been feeling when I run since tackling my anemia diagnosis. Running feels so right and energizing and I feel like myself again. I’m even motivated to sign up for races this spring! I ran a little shy of 5 today and it was effortless. Hallelujah!
Sunday
Not 100% certain yet but I think Sunday will be an ashtanga practice and that’s probably all!
How have your post-holiday workouts been going? Feeling motivated?
