Day in the Life Tuesday: August 2015

Day in the life Tuesday for you today. For whatever reason I seem to always do these posts on Tuesdays and it’s fun to look back at past years and compare.

– Here’s a day in the life from 2011 in my first month of a full-time career in fitness.
– Here’s a day in the life Tuesday from 2013 when I was still managing a gym.
– Here’s a day in the life from January 2014 and February 2014.
– And a Tuesday in the life from January of 2015 (and puppy Zoey!)

Here’s your day in the life for Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

5:25 a.m. – alarm goes off and I awake from a deep, restful sleep

5:30 a.m. – feet on the floor and yoga clothes on. Pack a bag with a change of clothes.

5:45 a.m. – leave for studio

6 a.m. – teach double shot at Y2 Yoga. I love the 6 a.m. crowd. They mean business!

7:45 a.m. – leave for Metro after cleaning the room, showering and getting dressed for the day. I grab a large black coffee from the cafe on the way out.

8 a.m. – train client at Metro

9 a.m. – train client at Metro

10 a.m. – so happy to be home to finally eat breakfast! I do NOT like to wait this late to eat breakfast but I don’t have an option on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It does not work for me to eat before my 6 a.m. class and there’s just no time between teaching and having to be at the gym to train.

I made a smoothie bowl with strawberries, figs, bananas, greek yogurt, cashew milk, spinach, Premier Protein Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder and peanut butter. I topped it with my favorite homemade peanut butter granola.

10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – a vortex of computer work. This has been an ultra-stressful week when it comes to “computer work” responsibilities. So much to do for the yoga studio, my blog and my book.

I do take some breaks to Snapchat pictures of Zoey (follow me @jendecurtins) because she’s so freaking cute.

8.5salad

2:15 p.m. – lunch. My routine is to snack on some sort of salty chips while I prepare lunch. Today it was pita chips. I have been loving this salad combo this week of spinach/chard/baby kale, cucumbers, roasted golden beets, goat cheese, avocado, lentils and quinoa, almonds and dried cranberries with sesame ginger dressing.

8.25watermelon

2:30 p.m. – snack on watermelon while I clean up lunch. I got a watermelon at Costco on Sunday and it’s the best one I’ve had all year. Insanely sweet!

2:45 p.m. – back to work on the computer. I mostly worked on things for the studio today and blog emails. I also put together this Instagram Giveaway that I’m partnering with Erin McDermott Jewelry to offer y’all!

4 p.m. – dentist appointment where I receive sad news that 1) I have to get a cavity filled and 2) I have to get a night guard.

5 p.m. – workout at Metro. Run three miles and then a ladder of 10-1 deadlifts and pullups.

6 p.m. – train client at Metro.

7:15 p.m. – home and prep dinner.

7:30 p.m. – walk with Zoey while I chat with my grandmother and my mom.

8 p.m. – home and Google hangout to discuss a cooking competition I’m competing in this weekend.

8.25chicken

8:45 p.m. – take chicken out of the oven. Shower.

8.25dinner

9 p.m. – dinner and catching up on our days together. Roasted chicken, sauteed spinach, brown rice and sliced tomatoes.

9:30 p.m. – my fiance cleans up dinner while I start blog. We have the whole “I cook, you clean” thing down pat!

10 p.m. – he brings me chocolate on the couch while I blog and watch Orange is the New Black season 3.

10:30 pm. – publish blog.

11 p.m. – I will be in bed! I might read for 15-20 minutes before lights out.

Tell me about your “Tuesday in the life.”

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
