This is an extra happy Friday for me because I’m leaving on a mini-vacation tomorrow for my annual pilgrimage to Sunset Beach with my BFF Dorie’s family. (2014, 2015) I can’t wait!

I’m going to share a few Friday faves before I get to packing, baking, grocery shopping and nail painting.

A Puppy Play Date

7.22pups2

Two girls I know from the studio also have golden puppies from the same breeder as Zoey. Theirs are both younger than Zoey and under a year old. We’ve been talking about getting the pups together to play forever and we finally made it happen last night. Look at this little golden retriever meeting they were having.

Sullie also came along (she’s in the middle). I almost didn’t bring her but at the last minute I couldn’t stand to leave her behind.

7.22del

She was in good company because one of the girls has a 9 year old that she also decided to bring. We had 5 goldens!

We had lot of this going on.

7.22paulnewman

This is Paul Newman. Funny story…anytime I would pat one of the puppies, Sullie would come running over to me from wherever she was in the yard to stake her claim. “That’s my mommy.” She was not sharing! 🙂 (She was probably terrified I was going to bring another one home! Ha!)

Get ready for more golden madness. We are dog sitting a friend’s golden for two weeks starting this weekend. (We totally volunteered for this!)

Fig Season!

Fig Season

A student brought us fresh figs from her tree this morning. I am so excited it’s fig season!

Perky Jerky

Perky Jerky

I recently received a selection of Perky Jerky to sample. I can’t say that jerky is a top of mind snack for me but I really liked the Perky Jerky. It’s low in calories and fat and a nice source of protein. It also has no nitrates, preservatives or MSG and it’s gluten-free.

Turkey Perky Jerky

What I liked best about it was the texture and the different flavors. They make Perky Jerky by marinating cuts of meat overnight. The resulting texture is really tender and not tough like traditional jerky at all.

Coconut-Lemongrass Chicken Noodle Bowls

Coconut Lemongrass Chicken Noodle Bowls

These were on last week’s meal plan and we really liked them. Sharing again because you should add them to your meal plan soon! Most of the work is done by the slow cooker which is an added bonus!

Honeydrop Cold-Pressed Lemonade

Honeydrop Lemonade

Lemonade and summer go hand in hand. Honeydrop beverages are sweetened with one tablespoon of pure, unrefined honey and have no added sweeteners. I liked all three flavors that I tried and I also love that Honeydrop donates 1% of proceeds to local beekeepers that are active in their communities.

My new Instagram account!

I started a separate Instagram account for my yoga a couple of months ago and I’m having so much fun sharing flows and things I teach in class. You can follow along by searching @poweryogaflow or click this link. My normal account (@jdecurtins) will remain focused on more lifestyle kind of things like food, fitness and the girls.

Do your pups enjoy play date?

Is anyone else excited about figs!? 🙂

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
