I’m at the beach with my family. I slept for 10 hours last night and it was that really hard, really restful kind of sleep. I am ready to enjoy my Saturday relaxing but here is a quick look at Friday first.
Travel was so easy. All of my flights were not just on time but early, believe it or not. I had a connection in Atlanta but it was super quick. I was here by 11 a.m. and eating lunch with my dad by noon. I scoped out the leftovers in the fridge and had barbecue chicken, roasted cauliflower and half of a sliced avocado.
I spent the next four hours on the beach napping, reading and chatting with my parents.
I went for a quick but hot and humid three-mile run before dinner. I came back drenched after just 30 minutes of running. I cooled off with a breeze and beautiful evening on the porch when I returned.
Dinner last night was a shrimp boil with salad, potatoes and sourdough bread. Yum!
And dessert was homemade peach pie with ice cream. A very good day!
Hi there. I'm back in Charlotte where it seems that things are exactly as I left them. I had to get away because I missed my parents and also because I needed a step back. I find that I have to get out of my day-to-day reality sometimes to gain…
Hello everyone! Catching up? Read about part one of my weekend in Isle of Palms here. I was really concerned that it was going to be cloudy and gray on Saturday but miraculously, right after I hit "publish" on my blog post, the clouds parted and the sun shined all…
Here's what Sunday at my grandmother's house looks like... Sleep until 9 a.m. Stumble (literally) out of bed and downstairs to make coffee and maple oatmeal scones for breakfast. Thanks to my sleep-induced stupor and an incorrect recipe, scones turn out a huge failure. (Look how flat the first batch…
I’m a sucker for all things pie. Mhmm… Wht’s the temperature like over there :)? I’m currently in Hawaii and couldn’t imagine going for a run haha!

I always get a really deep sleep when I visit my parents too. I think knowing I don’t have any plans and just R&R while I’m there really helps. Have a great visit!

Sounds wonderful and I am so glad that you are enjoying yourself! Those kind of sleeps are the best and a true sign that our minds and bodies needed it desperately! XOXO
