I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy to help spread the word about
#BetterHealthMadeEasy, how to #FindYourHealthy and #DiscoverCVS. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.

Let’s talk about smartphone apps today! I have five screens full of them on my iPhone. I don’t know why but I’ve never been able to get into organizing them into folders. I prefer to swipe. I wanted to share some of my favorite apps that run the gamut from time saving/convenience to photo editing to health tracking and more!

I’m going to share the smartphone apps that I use most often along with what my favorite features of each app are.

1. SPOTIFY

spotify app

This should come as a surprise to no one but the app I use the most is Spotify. I use it every time I’m teaching a class and also for my workouts. I can easily navigate my playlists or search for Spotify or user generated playlists. One of my favorite features of Spotify is there “Daily Mix” playlists. There is a collection of five playlists organized by genre/style that are based on music that I’ve been listening to. I also love their “Discover Weekly” which puts together a playlist of new music based on your listening preferences.

2. WAZE

waze app

Please tell me you’re using the Waze app! It’s amazing for navigating traffic, especially when driving around town. It’s a community-based app that relies on reports from users to let you know about heavy traffic, accidents, police, debris on the roadway, etc. You enter your destination and it will tell you the fastest route given real-time conditions. You can also go to the “routes” section to see your options. This is helpful because you might be like, “well I always go this way…no way the other route is faster” and then you see that there are major traffic issues.

Waze has taught me so many new routes and shortcuts to get to all my favorite places in Charlotte. I even use it to get to the studio on mornings where I have to drive during rush hour traffic!

3. CVS PHARMACY

cvs app

You can do so much through the CVS Pharmacy App. Here are some of my favorite features.

  • If you have a CVS ExtraCare® Card you can save up to 3x more on your purchases if you use the app. You just link your card to the app and start saving.
  • It makes checkout easier. You can get your ExtraCare deals, pick up your prescriptions and pay all in a single scan.
  • Curbside pickup is available via the app. Here in Charlotte I can place an order through the app and it will be ready for curbside pickup within an hour.
  • You can order photo prints through your app by uploading from your camera roll or Facebook account. Photos are ready to pick up the same day.
  • View MinuteClinic wait times, hold your place in line and get a text when you’re next.

When it comes to prescriptions, the app offers a whole host of helpful features.

  • Order refills and track when they’re ready for pickup.
  • Scan to refill. You can use your smartphone to scan the barcode on your prescription for easy refill.
  • Transfer prescriptions from a non-CVS Pharmacy to a CVS Pharmacy or from one CVS pharmacy to another.
  • View your prescription history.
  • There is also a Pharmacy Tools area of the app that allows you to identify pills, check for drug interactions and set reminders to take your medication.

CVS Pharmacy is making prescription maintenance and adherence easier for its customers by offering so many useful tools such as an easy fill and refill process, providing extremely clear directions on dosing amounts and schedules on bottles and all of these great tools through the app that help identify pills and common drug interactions.

CVS also offers an optional service called ScriptPath which is a Prescription Schedule that prominently features the patient’s prescription information and includes specifics on when and how much medicine to take, as well as clear refill instructions and personalized notes.

Prescription Schedule uses a sophisticated system that automatically reviews all of a patient’s CVS Pharmacy medications and prescribers’ instructions, and then provides a schedule of the most effective times to take medications by separating it into four dosing times (morning, midday, evening and bedtime). It’s available at all of CVS Pharmacy’s more than 9,700 retail pharmacy locations.

4. POSTMATES

postmates app

We use Postmates several times each month to have dinner delivered from our favorite local restaurants. I love that it’s a one-stop resource for dinner delivery that allows me to browse through menus at tons of restaurants all in one place. Delivery usually happens in under and hour and you have the ability to track your order through the whole process. You can even see the driver in route when they’re on the way. I may or may not be know to stand at the door waiting for them when I’m extra hungry! 🙂

You can use my code EZ8IN for $10 delivery credit on your first order!

5. VENMO

venmo app

Venmo is my favorite way to easily send and receive money among friends. It’s a secure digital wallet that is owned by PayPal. You can pay friends and family through your Venmo account through money you have in your Venmo or you can link your bank account or debit card to pay.

One example of how I used it with friends recently was ordering a pizza through Postmates. My friends Venmoed me money to split the cost of the pizza. It’s such an easy way to exchange money without needing cash. It’s awesome!

6. GLOW AND GLOW NURTURE APP

glow period app

Before I got pregnant, I used the Glow app to help me track my periods and my fertile days. Clearly, it’s been a while since I’ve had a period these days BUT when I was using it to track my cycles I could also enter information like  cervical mucus, symptoms, moods, sleep, etc. It begins to help you predict your fertile windows, when to expect PMS symptoms and your periods. It’s a great app!

glow nurture app

Once I became pregnant, I switched to the Glow Nurture app to track my pregnancy. It counts down how many days I have to go as well as what day of pregnancy that I am on and also offers daily articles and insights. You can also keep logs of exercise, water intake, weight, and general pregnancy symptoms.

7. WHITE NOISE APP

white noise app

This might seem like a weird one but I use this White Noise app anytime I’m traveling and it’s a lifesaver. I just turn it on and play it through my iPhone on the nightstand. There is no way I would have slept well when I was in New York City without it. My room was right next to the hallway and you could hear everything that was going on out in the hall. You can choose between sounds like brown noise, fan noise, stream, rain, winds and more. I love brown noise!

8. SNAPSEED

snapseed app

Snapseed is my favorite smartphone photo editing app. I learned about it almost four years ago and have been using it ever since! You can do everything from adjust the basics like brightness, contrast, color and cropping all the way to fancy edits like adding blur, special focus, vignette and more. I love playing around with the HDR Scape and Drama features. The “looks” tab gives you preset filters.

9. MINDBODY ONLINE

mindbody online app

And finally, I use the MindBody Online app all the time time to view schedules at other local studios when I might want to drop in for a class. It’s also AWESOME for travel because you can search by your location to fitness and yoga studios close by. You can view schedules, read reviews and book classes via the app.

I hope this has been a helpful post for you and has given you some new ideas for apps to add to your SmartPhone!

I’d love to hear about your favorite smartphone apps! I’m always looking for cool, new apps to download!

Do you use a period-tracking app?

Do you manage your prescriptions via an app?

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks!
