I’ve skipped out on writing weekend recaps for the last few weeks because there hasn’t been much to write about! Honestly, weekends feel pretty much the same these days as every other day since we’re in the newborn stage but I’ve received a few requests for “new day in the life” style posts so I snapped some photos to document our (slow!) weekend.
Finn and I spent the majority of the weekend solo because Tanner was leading the first weekend of Y2’s summer 200-hour yoga teacher training. We didn’t see much of him due to this. Obviously, I’m sitting this training out as I have my hands full with Finn!
FRIDAY
As I mentioned in my fourth trimester three weeks pospartum post, we took our first trip to the mall on Friday afternoon. We stopped in Lululemon and Baby Gap so that Finn and I could both get some new outfits!
Back at home we went for a walk and then both of us had shower/bath time and then settled in for dinner.
I had an Organic Spinach and Feta frozen pizza from ALDI (dipped in ranch…of course!) and a side salad.
We wrapped up the night by starting season 7 of Scandal on Netflix. I was SO excited to see that it was available and I’m happy to have Olivia Pope back in my life. This season is INTENSE! I’m so sad it’s the last one.
SATURDAY
Finn woke up in a great mood so I decided to chance a trip to the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market. I hadn’t been in so long!!!
Finn slept through the outing and I took my time browsing through the various booths and enjoying doing something that is a normal part of my Saturday routine. The only downside was that our post-10 a.m. arrival meant that a lot of my favorite famers were wiped out of the good stuff but we still managed some great finds. FYI…here is a post about my favorite farmers at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market. It can be a little overwhelming to navigate at first.
I also stopped by Suarez Bakery and got an apple fritter and a piece of carrot cake. I ate the apple fritter immediately as a “second breakfast” and have been stealing bites of the cake out of the fridge here and there for the last couple of days.
I arrived back at home around noon just as Finn was waking up and starting to have a hunger meltdown. We immediately got to feeding and he was happy again.
I unloaded my farmers market finds – two types of kale for kale salads this week, sweet potatoes, the first of this season’s tomatoes, the first of this season’s peaches, a cucumber, local honey and some eggs. We’ll see how the tomatoes and peaches are…it’s early yet!
We were home by noon and the rest of the day stretched out rather long in front of us. I did a lot of straightening up, laundry, vacuuming and things around the house between feedings.
We finally got out for a walk around 7 p.m. when it cooled down enough to be manageable for the dogs and Finn. FYI, I posted a few dog walking tips on Instagram. It’s been a learning curve to add the stroller into my daily dog walks but we’re figuring it out and the girls are doing a great job.
I made a really yummy salad for dinner using leftovers from the fridge. This is a super greens mix topped with a quinoa blend, salmon, cashews, dried cranberries and avocado. It was dressed with a lemon tahini dressing. I loved this salad and if you haven’t tried cashews on your salads you must…so good!
More Scandal on Saturday night. 😉
SUNDAY
Sunday started off slowly. We all slept until about 9:30. It’s amazing that I can sleep until 8:30 or 9 most mornings and still be SO tired come the end of the day…even though all I’m really doing is sitting around. Sleep is broken but I do get 7-8 hours most nights.
After I got Finn fed (he woke up ready to eat!), I made this breakfast for myself. Two eggs scrambled in Kerrygold butter, a slice of Great Harvest cinnamon bread with butter and fresh cherries and strawberries. A friend dropped off a loaf of this bread and I forgot how good it is. It tastes like a cinnamon roll in bread form!
Dorie texted around noon and invited me to the pool. I was hesitant because it was hot but decided to try it because I needed to get out of the house. We created quite the little shade setup for Finn and he loved it. He napped the whole time.
How cute is this little guy!? Living the good life! Of course I couldn’t get in the water quite yet but it was nice to sit and chat with my friends.
We stayed for about an hour and a half and then headed home to meet a friend who was stopping by with dinner. She has a four month old so we had tons to talk about when it came to all things baby. We chatted for about an hour and a half and then I went out for a walk after she left.
She brought dinner from YAFO so I couldn’t wait to dig into that after getting myself showered and Finn bathed after our walk. I had to eat this one-handed as Finn decided he was hungry too while I was eating! 🙂
The night ended again with…you guessed it…Scandal on the couch! Finn wanted to eat a lot last night but I was fine with him getting his belly full before bed because he slept from 11 p.m. – 4 a.m. CUE ANGELS SINGING! IT WAS AMAZING!
And that’s all! Quite a different weekend but a good one. <3
Tell me about all of the fun and exciting things you did over the weekend!
