A Day in the Life at 9 Weeks

Finn is 9 weeks old today! I haven’t documented a day in the (baby/new mom) life since he was 4 weeks old so I thought today was a great day to capture for my memories and your entertainment. ๐Ÿ™‚

A DAY IN THE LIFE AT 9 WEEKS

1 a.m. (because the day has started at this point, right?) – Finn is awake and wanting to eat

5 a.m. – Finn eats again but I get him right back down to sleep. He sometimes wants to fight going back to sleep if he feeds around 5 or 6 but I’ve become kind of skilled at convincing him that we should sleep longer. ๐Ÿ˜‰

8 a.m. – we’re both up. I feed Finn again while I chat with a girlfriend on the phone for about 30 minutes.

8:30 a.m. – I get both of us dressed and ready to head out to run some errands.

9 a.m. – we leave the house and head over to the side of town where Metro is to pick up a check. I thought I might squeeze in a quick workout while I was over there but I walk into the gym and say hi to the manager and then decide I have zero desire to workout.

10 a.m. – I didn’t make coffee at home so I treat myself to a latte at one of my favorite Charlotte coffee shops, Not Just Coffee. I love their Dilworth location.

Finn is in a pretty good mood so I get to sit outside and enjoy my coffee instead of taking it to go. Small victories. He’s a pretty cute date.

11 a.m. – I arrive at the Office of Vital Records to pick up a copies of Finn’s birth certificate that I had ordered. He is hungry so I decide that rather than push my luck, I will go ahead and feed him. I sit in the back of my car and feed him in the parking lot.

11:30 a.m. – we go in and pick up the certificates and then head home.

Noon – we are home. Finn sits in his bouncer while I prep lunch and Zoey supervises.

Lunch is a turkey sandwich with avocado, cheese and arugula on foccacia. Cherries and blueberries on the side and a brownie for dessert. I also eat some off-brand Cheez-Its while making this.

1 p.m. – I work on laundry and trying to get a few things done around the house but Finn starts to get a little fussy. I have no clue where his other sock went.

1:30 p.m. – I feed Finn again…and then I get smiles!

2 p.m. – I pack up Finn and the girls and we head over to a friend’s house. She invited me to bring the girls to go swimming. They love it! I joke that this is the best day they’ve had since Finn came home.

Zoey chases after the ball as we throw it in the pool for her for TWO HOURS!

Sullie mostly stands on the steps and lifeguards. About one in ever 10 throws, she also swims after the ball.

The lab in this picture is my friend’s dog and he’s an amazing swimmer. He would run and jump off that ledge and also dive to the bottom of the pool to get toys. It was fun to watch. Zoey and Sullie say they want a pool in the backyard.

Finn is super chill. He hangs out in the shade in his DockATot watching a fan and interacting with us and then takes a nap.

4:30 p.m. – we head home because Finn is getting hungry and bobbing against my chest.

5 p.m. – back at home I feed Finn. After he eats, I take a shower and then give him a bath.

6 p.m. – I put Finn in the Ergo because he’s having a hard time settling down. I call my mom as I walk around the house and straighten up. He finally settles down and falls asleep while I’m wearing him.

6:30 p.m. – I vacuum to clean up dog hair and light some candles because the house smells a bit like wet dog. Haha.

7 p.m. – a friend comes by and brings dinner over. It’s the most delicious cilantro chicken and a rice noodle side that is so so good. I must replicate both recipes and share with you guys. She stays to have dinner with me and then we go for a walk around my neighborhood. I feed Finn quickly before the walk.

9 p.m. – my friend leaves and I feed Finn again. My boy is getting so big! Look how much he’s growing out of these 3 month pajamas! (Which I have to change him out of promptly after he eats because he spits up all over them.)

9:45 p.m. – I come upstairs to get Finn down and to get settled in bed. I open my computer for the first time today and edit photos for this post.

10:15 p.m. – I decide I need dessert so I heat up a brownie and scoop some ice cream on top of it.

10:30 p.m. – I start writing this post and wrap it up around 11:15 p.m. I’ll probably watch and episode of Call the Midwife on Netflix to wind down and turn my brain off before I go to sleep tonight.

The end.

This potato and broccoli cheddar soup is a warm hug in a bowl. It’s a mash up of potato soup meets broccoli cheddar soup, and makes for a creamy, hearty and cheesy bowl that has just enough broccoli in it to make you feel like you’re getting your veggies in for a complete meal. POTATO [...]
