Friday Things + Faves

It’s 10:30 on Thursday night and I’ve got a sleeping baby in my room along with a golden retriever who has curled herself into a ball on one of Finn’s activity gym play mats. I’ll let you guess which pup.

Today was a good day. I made some last-minute Labor Day Weekend plans that I’m REALLY excited about. I’m going to leave you in suspense for now but you can follow along on Instagram stories to see what they are.

Tonight was special because we shot Finn’s three month photos with Amanda James. She is the one who did Finn’s newborn photos which I never did a dedicated post about but have sprinkled in here and there. She shot the newborn photos at my house but we went out to the lake at sunset for this round. I cannot wait to see them. And Mandy is just the nicest, most easygoing photographer to work with.

A few Friday faves…

homemade sourdough bread

Bread baking. I’ve been baking sourdough again and I just love the whole process of doing it as much as I love the bread itself. Here’s a link to my step-by-step tutorial.

Mornings with my little man. Finn is just the sweetest in the mornings and so smiley! Related…after going basically my whole life without watching TV in the mornings, I’ve decided that we now watch Good Morning America or the Today Show while we do coffee/morning feed/breakfast.

Nature walks. I have the most amazing trails and greenways just a quarter of a mile from my house and the time we spend on them walking is so special to me. I tallied up the number of miles that I’ve walked in 2018 so far (like going out for a walk, not just daily steps) and it’s over 350!

circuit training workout

Teaching again. I taught my first class this week since May 16! That is the longest break I have taken from teaching since I started teaching. I subbed a circuit training class at the Y and I’m teaching a cardio strength class on Friday. I have several more sub classes coming up soon. It felt great to be back at it. Here is the circuit workout that I had my class do. It was one minute each station, 15 seconds transition between exercises, 3 rounds total. Rest 1 minute between rounds. They were toast at the end.

hope foods hummus

New hummus flavors. You might remember that Hope Foods sent me a selection of hummus flavors to try out that included their new Jalapeno Red and Buffalo Bleu flavors. The Buffalo Bleu is SO GOOD. I was honestly not that excited about it but it blew my expectations out of the water. It is crazy delicious!

Shooting with Wanda again. I had a photoshoot with Wanda Koch on Wednesday to get pose photos for the yoga teacher training manual that I am putting together. Let me just tell you, my yoga practice after months of pregnancy and the postpartum period is not yoga manual picture perfect by any stretch but we got it done. And Wanda was sweet enough to grab a few photos of me and Finn after we wrapped! 🙂

And that’s all. I’m getting sleepy so I’m going to read my book and unwind. Tomorrow is going to be a big day!

What are your Labor Day Weekend plans?

Do you watch any morning shows?

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]
