Last year I hosted a SQUATOBER challenge on Instagram and when the memory popped up in my Timehop I asked my IG followers if we should do it again this year.
Well, a resounding 92% said yes so I got to brainstorming about how to make SQUATOBER even bigger and better.
And here’s what I decided!
- I shortened the challenge from 30 days down to 21. My hope is that this will translate into more successful completions of the challenge!
- Last year’s challenge was just “do this many squats every day for a month” and I think it got a little repetitive. This year I decided to mix it up and each day features a different squat variation that challenge participants will do 31 reps of. I think this will add a lot more variety for participants and interest for the daily IG stories check-ins!
SQUATOBER begins on Wednesday, October 10 and runs through Wednesday, October 31. The challenge will take place primarily on Instagram where I’ll ask participants to tag their friends to join in and post their daily squats on Instagram Stories.
You can head over to the SQUATOBER challenge announcement post on Instagram for all the details and a visual of all 21 days of squat variations.
I wanted to give you guys plenty of lead time to get yourself committed and ready for the challenge and to recruit friends and family to join in the squatting fun. I tried to keep the squats simple and things you could do at home. Only three of them use dumbbells and you can totally leave them out if you don’t have any at home. You should be able to knock out this challenge in less than two minutes a day!
There is also a pretty sweet giveaway for a $100 Lululemon gift card happening over on Instagram!
Fun fact…I was about 9/10 weeks pregnant in last year’s SQUATOBER announcement photo and paranoid that someone would be able to tell. Haha. This year I’m holding a real live little pumpkin! 🙂
Biggest thanks to my friend and photographer Wanda Koch for helping me with these photos (and all the squat variation photos you’ll find on Instagram) so that we can take SQUATOBER to the next level this year.
I hope you’ll join me for 21 days of squats!
What’s your most favorite squat variation?

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]

I recently spent four nights in Moab, Utah for a three-day stage trail race called Moab Run The Rocks. Since returning home, I’ve been telling everyone I talk to about my trip that they must put Moab on their travel bucket list (43 miles of running not required to have an amazing visit to Moab [...]

This potato and broccoli cheddar soup is a warm hug in a bowl. It’s a mash up of potato soup meets broccoli cheddar soup, and makes for a creamy, hearty and cheesy bowl that has just enough broccoli in it to make you feel like you’re getting your veggies in for a complete meal. POTATO [...]

I am sitting down to write this post with teary eyes and a heavy heart. On New Year’s Eve we said goodbye to Zoey. It seems like only yesterday that I brought this fluffy nugget home. Many of you have been here with me since Zoey was a puppy. She was the sweetest little sister [...]
