Recent Eats: The Cranberry Sauce Edition

Hi and I hope you’ve all had a nice kick off to the holiday season this weekend. My mom, Finn and I braved the crowds for a little Black Friday shopping and scored some cute clothes for Finn at Gymboree (including the wolf beanie he’s wearing in the photo below!!!) and for us at Loft. Everything at both stores was 50% off. I am obsessed with this tunic I found at Loft. It is SO soft and comfy. They have tons of cute sweaters on sale 50%+ off right now.

I also did a little bit of damage online on Thanksgiving morning while I was still in bed with Lululemon’s Black Friday Sale. I snagged a tank, a sweater and a poncho.

I’m actually not here to talk about holiday shopping…but rather what I’ve been eating! I’ve  got a mix of things from my time in Florida…and a whole lot of cranberry sauce incorporated into my meals. Yesterday I had cranberry sauce with all three meals for the day! 🙂

BREAKFAST

Apple cinnamon oatmeal topped with almond butter and cranberry sauce. I diced half an apple and sauteed it in salted butter and cinnamon. I added dried cranberries, 1/3 cup of milk, 1/3 cup water and 1/3 cup old fashioned oats and cooked for about 5 minutes on low heat.

This has been my most favorite breakfast combo. My dad makes homemade plain yogurt (tutorial here!) and this batch was super tangy. I swirled pumpkin puree into the yogurt and then topped it with diced banana, his homemade granola, cranberry sauce and almond butter. SO SO GOOD!

One more bowl of oatmeal. This time I sauteed half of a banana in salted butter until it was mushy and then added dried cranberries, cinnamon, pumpkin puree, 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup water, and 1/3 cup old fashioned oats. Cooked for about 5 minutes on low heat and then topped with almond butter and cranberry sauce.

LUNCH

This sandwich combo was delicious! Pimento cheese and avocado on Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed.

Leftover extravaganza! Toasted multi-grain bread with mayo, avocado, Thanksgiving turkey, Wickles, cheese and cranberry sauce.

Repeat but on homemade sourdough.

DINNER

The first night that I was here we had spaghetti with bolognese sauce. I need to share a bolognese recipe with you guys soon!

On Thanksgiving Eve we had steamed sea bass over sauteed spinach with steamed white rice. This is a replication of our favorite Sea Bass “Hong Kong Style” from Atlanta Fish Market. You must try this recipe! The fish was so melt in your mouth tender. My parents picked it up from a local fish market.

The day after Thanksgiving we decided to mix it up with tacos. I can’t tell you the last time I had an old school taco with ground beef, cheese, sour cream and taco sauce on a crunchy shell…maybe 10 years+???…but it was a welcome blast from the past! We used this Garden of Eatin’ taco kit and it was great.

And finally, last night was Thanksgiving 2.0. My dad also made homemade sourdough rolls that I loved and will be baking at home soon!

ETC

Of course, I’ve been eating lots of pie but I also wanted to share the Starbucks drink that I can’t get enough of. It’s a soy latte with one pump of Gingerbread. Try it!

And that’s all for this edition of recent eats. If you’re feeling inspired to put cranberry sauce on everything now, here’s my favorite recipe.

Do you like Thanksgiving leftovers? If so, what’s your favorite thing to eat leftover or leftover creation?

Any favorite holiday Starbucks orders?

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
