Thursday Tangents

Well, hi. I hope you’ve had a great week. Finn and I were supposed to be in Florida as I type this but when I went to check in for my flight the night before we were supposed to leave…I discovered our reservation had been cancelled. AHH! I won’t get into the story but we are rebooked to leave bright and early Friday morning. My bags are packed and I’m ready to go.

My mom texted me this photo on Tuesday and I have been counting down the days ever since. For our last two visits we have not seen the sun and this time the weather is supposed to be incredible so I cannot wait! Packed bathing suits for me and Finn!

It truly worked out for the best because Finn got an extra day to chill and recover. I’m happy to report that he is feeling pretty much 100% better…there was no Nose Frida-ing today. All I can say about the Nose Frida is that it’s a traumatic experience for all involved.

Also, I was able to pack, clean and get organized at a relaxed pace today. This never happens. I am usually running around like a maniac. My mom was in shock when she asked if I was packed this evening and I replied yes. I’m usually a midnight packer and still stuffing things in my bag as I’m wheeling my suitcase out of the house and late for the airport.

In full transparency, I learned this from my mom. Haha. I also learned from her waiting until your gas light is on to get gas. My sweet Mema doesn’t understand either of these behaviors for the life of her. She is packed well in advance of any trip (and always has been) and her tank never got below 1/4 when she was driving.

I got way off on a tangent there. So let’s keep going with tangents…

Has anyone else fallen victim to Easter candy? I was in Target this week and I just couldn’t say no. I bought Reese’s Eggs, York Egg Patties and Cadbury Creme Eggs. Luckily, I had my priorities in order and also stocked up on toothbrushes and toothpaste. 🙂

I have a little candy jar in my entryway that I feel very devoted to keeping full. It just feels homey and fun and reminds me of my grandmother. 🙂

This playlist saved my life in the car today. Finn was hungry and cranky but these tunes got us the 15 minutes home without a major meltdown.

While we are on the topic of Spotify…this playlist from my classes today. <3

So good.

One more thing to listen to! The podcast that I recorded with Hannah and Caroline from It Sounded Like A Good Idea is LIVE! You can find lots of ways to listen here.

Also good. This dinner of arugula and baby spinach massaged in lemon juice, sea salt, avocado oil and a tiny drizzle of honey. Topped with half an avocado, feta, hummus, lemon pepper Right Rice (<– really yum!), a veggie burger and a fried egg. SO DELICIOUS!

I could probably keep going with these tangents all night but it’s an early bedtime for me. See you this weekend from sunny Florida! xx

Are you a packing procrastinator or do you get it done well in advance of the trip? What about gas? Do you wait until the light is on?

Do you listen to kid music in the car? Favorite Spotify playlists or Pandora stations?

Favorite Easter candy? Have you bought any yet?

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks!
