They See Me Rollin’

And here I am watching The Bachelorette for the third week in a row. I don’t even know who I am right now as I have maybe watched one or two Bachelor/Bachelorette seasons ever. I guess it’s just mindless, easy TV to have on in the background that is also cringeworthy and highly entertaining. Tonight I learned that Hannah B has two golden retrievers so I guess I’m invested at this point. Haha. 🙂 Related, why is she Hannah B? Why isn’t she just Hannah?

Onto Memorial Day weekend. Let’s start on a more serious note.

This post from our former president sums up everything I feel about Memorial Day. My message to my yoga class on Sunday morning was themed around being of service. I have spent a lot of time this weekend reflecting on the whole idea of service and what that means on so many levels. To say that I am grateful for the courageous service that our troops have demonstrated would be an understatement. I am so inspired by their selflessness and sacrifice and it gives me so much pause on how I am playing my part in being of service to my community and as a citizen of this world.

How did I just go from The Bachelorette to this? A true example of paradox. Now for my Memorial Day weekend recap…

I kicked off my Friday with a run with Finn and Zoey that included a stop at the park to swing. We did four miles total.

I dropped Finn off to his dad midday. These are not easy moments.

The rest of the day was spent getting my hair colored and blown out, subbing two yoga classes and having dinner out with some of the lovely ladies that I work with and for at VIBE5. Don’t judge my hair salon on this blowout. My post-baby hair regrowth is INSANE. Y’all…I have full out baby bangs…and they are not cute.

Saturday was a blah day for me and this is the only photo that I have to share from the whole day. I subbed two yoga classes at 9:30 and noon. I cam home after and felt terrible…headache and exhausted. I had so much to do at home and for work but I sat on the couch for hours and watched Netflix. (The movie Wine Country is entertaining for the record.) I wrapped up my Saturday with house cleaning, a walk and an easy dinner at home.

My dinner was a mix of romaine, Trader Joe’s Melodious Blend, feta, pistachios, rotisserie chicken, tomatoes and ranch dressing.

On Sunday morning I subbed one last yoga class and then came home and went out for a run. I subbed a ton of yoga classes over the weekend to try to pay back how much I’ve asked for subs for my own classes recently. I taught 13 classes total last week and holy, holy…it was amazing and exhausting all at the same time.

Post-run I was in the mood for a brunch lunch so I had a toasted bagel with butter, smashed avocado and sauerkraut alongside cottage cheese scrambled eggs and fresh fruit.

It was the best EVER to get Finn back on Sunday afternoon. Our first order of business was a walk in his new wagon before a long nap. Happy to report that he LOVED the wagon!

We are in this crazy place right now between two naps a day and consolidating to one. Between his age, and the unpredictability of his schedule between two parents, it is very challenging. I know that two naps a day is probably still best for him but it is a struggle and sometimes I’m lucky to get one good nap.

I felt like it was best to keep Finn close to home after getting him back with me. He just needed grounding and low-key, relaxed time.

Sunday night looked like a Blue Apron dinner and a trip to Villani’s for dessert. I got a piece of strawberry lemon cheesecake and coconut cake.

Our Memorial Day was perfect. First, my neighbor across the street gave me some toys that her kids had grown out of. One was the iconic Little Tikes Cozy Coupe and I couldn’t wait to get Finn in it. He enjoyed his ride and was laughing, smiling and steering with hands on the wheel the whole time we were out there.

Finn decided that napping was not necessary on Memorial Day and only took one 45-minute nap. It was a bit stressful given that we had plans to go to a Memorial Day dinner with friends later in the evening but luckily Finn was in a relatively happy mood despite his nap skipping.

We spent some time outside splashing around a $7 baby pool that I got at ALDI. After Finn got out, Sullie and Zoey loved taking a dip in it. 🙂

Our Memorial Day ended with the most wonderful dinner party at a friend’s house that I’ve known for over eight years. I am so grateful to her for inviting us and welcoming us so warmly. Finn was such a trooper given his limited napping. He gobbled up plantain chips, dolmades and shrimp.

The Bachelorette is ending and I am fading. Time for a book and bed. <3

Do you watch any of the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows?

How did you spend Memorial Day weekend?

When did your child go from two naps to one? Any tips around this?
