Red, White and Happy

Happy Friday…although today feels like any day other than Friday. My days are all so mixed up between travel and the Fourth of July.

I had a quiet but lovely July Fourth. I taught two morning hot yoga classes, went for a three mile BLAZING HOT run, picked up Finn and hung out at home with him for the rest of the day. He was in the cutest/sweetest/most fun mood all day and we had a great time together. I really didn’t one bit miss not having a cookout or pool party to attend. <3

I built a water table that turned out to be a project that involved a lot of elbow grease and reading. You had to screw straight into plastic with no pre-drilled holes and there were like 26 listed assembly steps (why a water table has to be so complicated to put together is beyond me). The effort was worth it because Finn loved the water table and I can tell that it’s going to provide hours of entertainment for years to come.

While we were outside playing I also filled up a small plastic pool. Zoey loved jumping in and out of that but unfortunately she also loves to roll in the grass and dirt when she’s wet. I had to give her an outdoor bath with the hose before I let her back in…which she did not love as much as pool jumping. 😉

We got a big afternoon thunderstorm that made for the perfect excuse to hunker down and do some cooking and baking. I baked a loaf of carrot zucchini bread and made a peach blueberry crisp with some peaches that were on their last leg. It was a perfect July Fourth dessert and I enjoyed some with ice cream after dinner.

I was in bed reading before 10 with a white noise app blasting to drown out the sounds of everyone in my neighborhood setting off fireworks. I’m reading Jennifer Weiner’s new book, Mrs. Everything. I’m only 25% into the book and can’t give you an opinion on it yet. Not sure yet if I’m going to love it or be “eh” about it.

Alright guys. I’m off to Charlotte Yoga for weekend four of our 200-hour yoga teacher training so I’ll be immersed in that all weekend. I am excited…my trainees for this TT are a very engaged, all-in group and also a ton of fun!

What did you do for July Fourth?

Did you make any special food or desserts for the Fourth?

What are you reading right now?

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks!
