Budget Blogging

Did you know that you can purchase a totally functional, reasonably fast laptop for $150 these days? I am telling you this because I am writing this post from one.

I have been an “all things Apple” girl for the last 7-8 years now and I love my iPhone/MacBook/Apple Watch flow. It just all feels so integrated and easy. Well, I shattered my Apple Watch in Jamaica (in such a ridiculous, frustrating, dumb way) and my MacBook is in triage at the Apple Store (it’s really called triage, so dramatic) so I’m down to one Apple device at the moment, my phone. Personally, I find it impossible to work on my phone and I couldn’t go 3-5 business days without a laptop so off I went to Amazon in search of a budget Chromebook. Imagine my shock when I discovered that I could get a decently reviewed 2018 15″ Chromebook for $152! SIGN ME UP! I ordered it at 10p last night and it arrived at 4p today. I had it up and running in less than 5 minutes. Can’t beat that.

So let’s catch up.

Backing up to Friday, I met Dorie to get nails done (I went with bright red which I don’t do often enough!) and swung into Whole Foods to grab groceries for the weekend. I snapped a photo of what I got because it was a great capture of a normal grocery staple haul for me.

Next up was teacher training!!! This weekend was weekend four of eight for my 200-hour yoga teacher training at Charlotte Yoga. I taught class for them and then we watched the documentary Awake: The Life of Yogananda.

Saturday brought more teacher training…8a-6p. It was a long but great day. We covered alignment and assisting for a lot of standing poses, the five kleshas and the four branches of avidya and they practice taught warm ups. My day ended at the mall for the Genius bar appointment where I discovered that I’d have to leave my MacBook with them…again. I was really just tired, starving and wanted to get home ASAP.

When I got home, I heated up leftover frozen pizza from Friday night and vegged on the couch.

Sunday was another beautiful day of teacher training that included a yoga nidra meditation, a lecture on ashtanga and the history of power yoga, assist training, discussions on two of the yamas and practice teaching.

I love this work so very much and feel beyond grateful to be leading these 13 yogis on their TT journey! 🙂

I usually pick Finn up on Sunday afternoon but there was a change in the schedule that meant I didn’t get to see him until Monday morning.

Gosh, it was so good to see his sweet face at 7:30a this morning. We had the best day together.

A friend of mine that I haven’t seen in over a year stopped by today to visit and meet Finn. While we were hanging out he commented that he felt like I laughed more today than he’d ever seen me laugh in the 8+ years we’ve known each other. That really felt good to hear because I feel happier and more like myself than I have in a long time. <3

I have lots of great content planned for y’all this week so be sure to check back in! 🙂

Are you a Mac or PC person?

Do you use an Apple Watch or another fitness watch?

How was your weekend?

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]

This potato and broccoli cheddar soup is a warm hug in a bowl. It’s a mash up of potato soup meets broccoli cheddar soup, and makes for a creamy, hearty and cheesy bowl that has just enough broccoli in it to make you feel like you’re getting your veggies in for a complete meal. POTATO [...]
