I love a good bodyweight workout. They are not only convenient but also extremely effective! In all of the group strength classes that I teach, I always warm up with bodyweight only for the first 10 minutes or so before adding external weights. I like for my students to warm themselves up with bodyweight and establish good movement patterns before adding weight. Makes sense, right?

I always remind my students as we work through the bodyweight portion of class that they can do the exercises anywhere…not just in class! I love adding an education piece so that my students feel like they can take part of class with them no matter where they are…home, the beach, a hotel room, etc.

I’ve been traveling a lot this summer so I’ve relied on bodyweight workouts for many of my own workouts. I also taught bodyweight only workouts during my yoga and fitness retreat in Jamaica because we didn’t have access to weights and other equipment. Let me tell you…they did not miss the weight and no one said it was easy. 😉

If you don’t believe me, give this workout a try! One minute of each of the exercises you see above + a sprint at the end. Repeat 3-4 rounds through.

THE BEST OUTFIT FOR YOUR SWEATY SUMMER WORKOUTS

I received so many questions about the shorts I was wearing in the video above when I shared this workout on Instagram. I’m excited to give you the details today because I’m pretty much obsessed with them.

lululemon took my favorite Align Pants and made them into shorts!!! And I’m here to tell you that the Align Shorts are just as soft, comfortable and flattering as the pants. They come in two different lengths, 6 inch inseam and 4 inch inseam. I’m wearing the 4 inch, which I find to be an excellent length that covers my booty but isn’t too long on my short legs.

And of course I’m a huge fan of the high-waisted fit. lululemon does high-waisted pants right and they never dig into me or feel uncomfortable. It’s important to note that these are not compression shorts but they are designed for yoga and bodyweight type workouts.

When I saw that bicycle shorts were a trend for 2019 I was like, “no thank you.” But the Align Shorts have definitely changed my tune on that.

Another trend that I am on board with is high neck sports bras and muscle tanks. I’m wearing lululemon’s Ignite Bra. I like that it provides great coverage in the front but has a fun open back. It’s comfortable and supportive.

I love the long line and high neck of the Ignite Bra paired with the Align Shorts. It’s the perfect combo for sweaty summer workouts.

If you want to throw a tank over it, the Breeze By Muscle Crop Tank is a great compliment to the Ignite bra and Align shorts. It also couldn’t be a better choice for summer with its lightweight feel and open-hole ventilation.

You can shop my whole look here!

Alright, how about we wrap this up with one more bodyweight workout that you can take with you anywhere this summer?

LEGS, CARDIO, CORE 20-MINUTE BODYWEIGHT WORKOUT

Guaranteed to make you sweat! Let me know what you think if you try it.

What’s your favorite way to sweat during the summer? Do you move your workouts indoors or stay outside?

What’s your go-to travel workout?

Do you prefer fitted workout shorts or a looser cut?

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks!
