LDW

It was a weird Labor Day weekend. It was my first weekend in Charlotte that I didn’t have Finn in months where I wasn’t leading teacher training, a yoga workshop or traveling for work.

Honestly…I do not love these weekends and appreciate the distraction of work to get through to picking up Finn on Sunday.

Before he left on Friday, we took a long walk through the neighborhood and to the park. It was a beautiful morning and we spent about an hour and a half outside.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working before meeting my friend and fellow teacher Suzanne at Charlotte Yoga to take my friend Rian’s class at 5:45p.

On Saturday morning I took Suzanne’s class at 9:30a at Charlotte Yoga before subbing a class at 11a.

I had these grand plans of getting a ton of work done on Saturday afternoon but instead found myself wandering around the house and unfocused. I ended up baking. I made a double batch of my carrot maple oat banana bread (half as bread, half as muffins) as well as some oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies. (Recipe soon!)

I got out of the house on Saturday evening to attend a pool party for Charlotte Yoga staff. These evenings out are few and far between and I did have a really nice time!

I subbed a yoga class on Sunday morning at 11a and then scooped up my boy. I didn’t get the feeling of whole heartedness that comes with having your child close until I had one of my own.

On Sunday evening Dorie invited us over for a Labor Day dinner/cook out. We had burgers, potato salad and salad.

And because my friends know me SO well, Dorie got me a slice of carrot cake from The Fresh Market.

Labor Day Monday brought my longest post-injury/surgery run/walk. We covered 4.8 miles on foot with running intervals. Felt amazing and no pain!

Stopped at the park to swing and play. Can we talk about Finn waving to Zoey. He is in love with her.

I decided to venture out to the Charlotte Premium Outlets on Monday afternoon. While my prediction that the traffic getting there would be light was true, I was in no way prepared for the insanity that was the number of people that were there. HOLY CRAP! It was my first time at the Charlotte Premium Outlets and overall, I thought they were very nice and I will return…just not on a holiday or probably even a weekend!

I got Finn some bathing suits and rash guards at Janie and Jack, a vest at Gap (had a return to make from online) and two pairs of sneakers at Nike.

That is all. Not an exciting Labor Day weekend but a good one!

What did you do for Labor Day weekend?

Do you like outlets or do you prefer the mall or online shopping?

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]

Potato and Broccoli Cheddar Soup

Potato and Broccoli Cheddar Soup

This potato and broccoli cheddar soup is a warm hug in a bowl. It’s a mash up of potato soup meets broccoli cheddar soup, and makes for a creamy, hearty and cheesy bowl that has just enough broccoli in it to make you feel like you’re getting your veggies in for a complete meal. POTATO [...]
