I have seriously been wanting to write about scrunchies for over a month now because they’re BACK and I’m excited! First let’s rewind to the summer when I was leading teacher training at Charlotte Yoga. I had quite a few cool, hip ladies in my training who were much younger than me. I noticed that they were all wearing scrunchies. One day I asked them, “y’all…are scrunchies a thing again?” They affirmed that they were and I thought to myself, “hmmm.”

About a month ago, I was doing some shopping at lululemon and spotted a big bowl of scrunchies. I thought to myself, “why not?” and added it to my bag. Let me tell you that I am now asking myself WHY I ever stopped wearing scrunchies. Ever since purchasing my lululemon scrunchie, I have worn them nonstop. They are SO MUCH gentler on the hair and so much more comfortable than tight elastic bands.

SCRUNCHIES ARE BACK!

I now have a collection of 12 scrunchies and you will never find me without one or two close by. I am kicking myself for all the years I wore tight elastic bands and ripped my hair out while taking them out. I feel like this trend back towards scrunchies is going to be a good thing for the overall health and growth of my hair.

The only time I wear a traditional elastic now is if I’m running or doing a HIIT style workout where I’m going to be jumping a lot. Otherwise, you’ll find me in a scrunchie! 🙂

I have a few other favorites to share with you today as well!

LIQUID I.V.

liquid i.v.

In slightly less exciting news, Liquid I.V. brought me back to life this morning after spending most of the night in the bathroom due to unfortunate food poisoning of some sort. It was TERRIBLE. I felt like I had been run over by a truck when I woke up this morning but thankfully, the nausea had passed. I was super dehydrated and knew that I needed something more than water so I turned to my Liquid I.V.

I am a BIG fan of electrolyte powder for water when I am sweating heavily during runs or hot yoga classes, but they are a lifesaver when you’re just generally dehydrated too.

Here’s what I love about Liquid I.V.

  • 3x the electrolytes of traditional sports drinks
  • 5 essential vitamins…B3, B5, B6, B12 and Vitamin C
  • It tastes amazing
  • Uses a science of Cellular Transport Technology to provide an optimal ratio of nutrients that delivers hydration rapidly into your bloodstream. It can hydrate you 2-3x faster and more efficiently than water alone. CTT = mined salt, potassium, pure cane sugar and water. (Read more about the results of their clinical study here.)
  • Offers hydration for exercise, heat/sun, travel and general wellness.
  • No preservatives, no artificial flavors, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial colors.
  • Recommended by doctors and safe for kids.

All that being said, I am getting up from my computer right now to make another serving of Liquid I.V. as I still feel pretty dehydrated from last night. I have no idea what happened to me but you better believe that I threw out everything in my house that I ate yesterday.

Liquid I.V. provided me with these samples free of charge but they also hooked me up with a discount code for my readers! Use this link and code JEN_PBRUNNER at checkout for 20% off!

BUYING MYSELF FLOWERS

Finn and I stopped by Trader Joe’s on Tuesday night and I bought myself some flowers while we were there. Roses are my favorite and they had 18 of them for just $8.99! I mixed them in with some mums for a little fall color. Always makes me happy to have fresh flowers around the house.

COLD WEATHER IS HERE!

Our temperatures have been 15-20 degrees below average all week but I am ALL about it! On this day it was 34 degrees and I bundled up and took Zoey for a walk on the trails.

MY WINTER BFF

While I love the cold, crisp days…I also love being toasty inside. My old space heater finally kicked the bucket after 10+ years of service so I splurged for a new one yesterday. This little thing is small but mighty! I can’t believe how much heat it puts out. I like to have it on while I’m working, and it’s also nice to help heat my downstairs…which is always freezing compared to upstairs during the winter.

TODDLER SLIPPERS

My grandmother was flipping through a catalogue the last time we visited Florida and told me that Finn NEEDED some animal slippers. I couldn’t really argue with this, especially knowing how cold it was going to get in Charlotte, so she gifted him the cutest pair of raccoon slippers. They’re perfect for cold mornings, and he does keep them on! Note, they’re on sale right now!

MORE COLD AHEAD

It looks a cold weekend is on the horizon for us. I am running the Charlotte Marathon Relay tomorrow morning with a group of girls and looks like it’s going to be drizzly and 43 degrees. Yikes! Looking forward to a quiet weekend at home with Finn and Zoey! I hope y’all enjoy yours.

QUESTIONS

Have you jumped back on the scrunchie wagon?

What are your favorite ways to stay warm during cold weather?

TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]
