Life Lately + Last Post of the Year

Happy New Year’s Eve friends! I have had a really good day. I taught two classes this morning. The first was hot yoga at Charlotte Yoga and the second was a strength class at VIBE5. Both classes were great but my strength class was a PARTY! My playlist was “best of the decade” themed, the room was packed and the energy was amazing. We ended class with a four-minute all-our cardio dance party to “Give Me Everything.”

Here’s the playlist for your listening pleasure. It made me really happy.

I’ll be teaching two yoga classes on New Year’s Day morning. Needless to say, I’ll be keeping NYE pretty low-key. (Which honestly, I would be doing regardless.) I am going to see Little Women with some girlfriends and then planning to be asleep before the ball drops. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I also had my hair cut and colored and my nails done today so I’m rolling into 2020 feeling fresh. I saw a new stylist at the salon I’ve been going to for 10 years now due to some scheduling issues. It was actually a blessing to mix it up because I LOVE the cut she did. I would see her again in a heartbeat. FYI for local readers, I go to Salon 42. Jason has been doing my hair forevvvvveeeerrrr. I saw Marissa today at the SouthPark location and she was awesome. I really trust all of the stylists at Salon 42 because Jason does such a phenomenal job training them.

I have a bit of a random photo dump to share with you today but I thought it would be a fun and light final post of the year! Most of the photos are from our time in Florida!

The morning that we arrived in Florida Finn made a beeline for Mema and brought the “baby” book. He loves this book of baby faces. One side is happy faces and the other is sad. My grandmother taught him how to say “happy” and it is so cute.

Still shopping on Christmas Eve! ๐Ÿ™‚ I always like to do a stocking for my grandmother since she goes all out on ours so I did a little Target shopping to fill hers up. It made more sense wait until we got to Florida rather than fly with it.

ergo back carry

I had received a lot of suggestions to try back carrying Finn in the Ergo and we are LOVING it! I watched a video on how to get him in there on my own that was very helpful for positioning. We did a few long beach walks and he fell asleep every time. If you are pregnant or have a baby, I cannot recommend the Ergo enough (currently on sale for $99 using this link which is a great deal). I have gotten so, so much use out of it. The back carry is so perfect for the current “up please” clingy stage that Finn is in because I can wear him and do other things! And he thinks it’s so fun.

gulf breeze zoo

We took a trip to the Gulf Breeze Zoo one day. Finn is super into animals right now so this was a great activity to do with him. Much different than his first zoo trip at seven months old!

gulf breeze zoo

I get so much enjoyment out of taking him on adventures and seeing the world through his little eyes.

One of the best things about kids is that playing on the playground and going down the slide can be the adventure of a lifetime. Zoo full of animals and Finn was all about this slide! ๐Ÿ™‚

Downward facing Finn. He does this position all the time. Can we also appreciate his mismatched shoes? He’s super into his shoes right now and likes to bring them to me to put on.

Also all about sharks. I asked him what he wanted to wear on this day and he said, “sharks.”

Our flight was delayed coming home due to maintenance issues so I had no choice but to let Finn run free as there was no containing him at the gate. He went crazy running through empty gates and around chairs. Look at this red face and sweaty hair! Finn was SUCH a trooper with the delay, later flight and getting home past his bedtime. I felt so lucky for my laid-back little dude.

We were able to enjoy a few more days with Bear when we got home (my house sitter stayed with Zoey and Bear over Christmas…she is the BEST!) and we finally said goodbye to him today. I know Zoey is really going to miss him.

And we’ve now arrived at the end of my random end of the year share. I know I’ve said it a lot lately but I’m grateful for this space, and that you are here reading. Please always feel free to reach out via email, blog comments or Instagram DMs. I love connecting with you.

Wishing you all a safe and happy New Year!
Jen, Finn + Zoey

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks!
