Happy Sunday morning!

yogurt bowl

I am sitting here eating this yogurt bowl, drinking coffee, listening to Taylor Swift’s folklore album and getting ready to jump on a Zoom meeting for our Sunday morning yoga teacher training session.

(Bowl details: FAGE Total Plain 5% with honey, bananas, peaches, Purely Elizabeth granola, dried cranberries and Wild Friends Nut and Seed Butter)

(Taylor Swift question…is anyone else obsessed with the song Exile with Bon Iver?)

After spending the summer diving into practicing and living yoga, it’s graduation weekend for my 200-hour yoga teacher trainees at VIBE5! We’ve met in-person six weekends on Fridays from 2-9p and Saturday/Sundays from 8a-6p. We’ve also met every single Wednesday night on Zoom from 5:30-8:30p since June 10.

It’s been an immersive but extremely rewarding summer of yoga with this group. I have been a part of leading a lot of yoga teacher training groups over the last 6-7 years and it never stops amazing me how each group has such a unique dynamic, feel and personality. I always feel like I learn as much from them as they do from me!

I truly love all of the work that I do but leading YTTs is my most favorite. I’m two years into leading teacher trainings solo and I still pinch myself regularly that my career has taken me in this direction. It’s a huge honor.

Speaking of yoga teacher training, I had a call last night to catch up with my VIDA Hot Yoga fam. We’ll be kicking off our next 200-hour training in January. I also have another call this week to discuss the possibility of offering a virtual/online 200-hour with one of my favorite women to partner with. I’d love to hear if any of you might be interested in an online yoga teacher training option! Feel free to comment below or email me. 🙂

(Note: you do NOT have to be able to do a handstand…or even a headstand…to do yoga teacher training. It’s not about how advanced your practice is…AT ALL! The only thing required is a love of yoga and a desire to deepen your understanding of yoga and yourself. You can read more about the process here!)

GLUTES, CHEST & BACK TWO-SET DUMBBELL WORKOUT

dumbbell workout

Welcome to one of the most unattractive workout graphics that I’ve ever created, haha. I was having all sorts of formatting issues with this one but I know how much you guys like to have these to save on your phone or on Pinterest so at least it serves that purpose.

I’m trying to slowly get myself back into strength training after a summer of doing the bare minimum when it comes to lifting. I mentioned this last week but I think I’ve averaged one strength workout every two weeks for the last couple of months. I really like the way that I feel when I’m lifting 2-3 times a week so I’m trying to get back into that groove.

I’m happy to report that it happened last week! I did this workout on my own on Tuesday and taught a dumbbell strength class on Zoom for VIBE5 on Thursday. The workout I did on my own was focused on glutes (never not working glutes!), chest and back. I wanted to share it here with you too!

Here’s a video demoing all of the movements. They’re pretty straightforward but video shows so much that photos cannot.

Alright you guys. Off to enjoy my last full day of training with this amazing group of women. I hope you have a great Sunday and I’ll see y’all next week.

QUESTIONS

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]

Moab Run The Rocks Race Recap (3 Day Stage Race)

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a month since I completed Moab Run The Rocks! It’s a three-day stage race in Moab, Utah that’s put on by the same race organization, TransRockies Rockies Race Series, that I did my six-day Colorado race with back in August. TransRockies truly excels when it comes to planning and [...]
