HOW FIT REVOLUTION WAS BORN

For years I have wanted to create some sort of online fitness offering beyond sharing workouts on my blog and Instagram but I had a hard time nailing down the direction that I wanted to take. There has always been a lot of interest in online personal training but my heart told me to follow my passion for teaching group exercise and yoga classes. For me personally, I loved the idea of taking people through full guided classes rather than providing a written plan.

When I was pregnant with Finn I decided to create an online platform for teaching power yoga and started taking steps to build that out but as soon as the realities of being a new mom hit, along with the challenges of single motherhood, that idea got pushed to the back burner. Although I loved the idea, I just simply didn’t have the bandwidth to make it happen energetically, physically, mentally or from a time or financial perspective. I just kept plowing forward with all of the things that I already had established – writing my blog, creating content for social media, teaching yoga and group fitness and leading yoga teacher trainings – all while having this constant idea in the back of my head that wanted to come to life.

Fast-forward to summer 2019 when I got connected to my now business partner. He was interested in starting a new online business and I talked him through my yoga platform idea. We had a great discussion but no immediate plans to follow up or move forward on anything. We reconnected around the end of the year and found that we were both ready to make something happen.

You guys, we sat for hours and hours in those early days going round and round about what we wanted the platform to be. As I talked through everything with him, I realized that I wanted it to offer more than yoga and to include fitness, food and mindfulness elements because these are all important pieces of my life and what I post online. I also realized that I wanted to expand the platform beyond just me and create a space where other creators, instructors and influencers could share their skills online with their audiences.

I know firsthand how hard it is to be a solo-preneur and to figure out how to shoot high-quality video, edit it, license music, build a platform, manage payments, create marketing plans, etc. I mean, that’s why it took me years and finally connecting with a unicorn business partner whose knowledge and skills complement mine perfectly to make this happen.

It was important for me to create a space where other people who do what I do could focus on what they are best at – creating and teaching – and all of the backend stuff would be handled for them. I also believe in the power of community and collaboration and knew this platform would be stronger with a team. I had conversations with some of my peers and shared the platform concept with them. The idea was well received and I decided to push forward with development.

And this is how Fit Revolution was born!

WHAT WE OFFER ON FIT REVOLUTION

We have four main areas of focus on Fit Revolution – FIT, FLOW, FUEL, FOCUS. We are launching with over 100 classes and we’ll be adding new classes every single week. Our classes are full guided classes, just like you were taking a class in a studio, and are set to music!

Here’s a little more information about each of our focus areas.

Our FIT classes include strength training, HIIT, core training, barre, warm up, cool down, mobility and more. You’ll find classes varying in length from five minutes to an hour and a great mix of bodyweight and weighted/banded workouts.

FLOW is where you’ll find all things yoga and I am extra excited about our yoga offerings on Fit Revolution. Yoga is my most favorite thing to teach and it’s wonderful for me to have a way to share classes with so many people that I’d never get the opportunity to teach in person. We specialize in power yoga and also offer slow flow and deep stretch. Prenatal classes are coming soon and we’ll add more formats as we grow. I’m also working on a series of skill building classes for arm balances and inversions.

FUEL is the hub for food and you’ll find recipe tutorials and nutritional information here.

FOCUS is for all things mindfulness because at Fit Revolution we believe that holistic health includes practices like meditation and breath work to support stress reduction, better sleep and more.

WHAT MAKES FIT REVOLUTION DIFFERENT?

I want to be honest and recognize that there are a lot of great fitness and yoga platforms out there. We are not trying to compete with them but rather add to the space by giving creators, instructors and influencers who might never get to teach on the bigger platforms a place to connect with their students and followers online to share their skills and passions. In turn, we are also giving their students and followers a way to take classes and learn from people who they are invested in following. We are all about crating connection.

In my years of taking and teaching group fitness and yoga classes, I’ve discovered that the connection between teacher and student can be a huge motivating factor when it comes to consistency and growth. I know many people who find it much more engaging and exciting to take classes from teachers that they know and love…whether that is online or in person.

I’ve had so many of you tell me over the years that you wish you could take yoga with me or that the type of power yoga that I teach isn’t offered in your area. This is an example of how this platform can connect us and give you an experience that isn’t possible in person due to geographic constraints.
