I am popping in with a quick dose of Saturday randomness before I head out to film a few classes for Fit Revolution.

We had a great week over here. Our nanny was out on spring break so I got lots of QT with Finn. It was an insanely gorgeous week in Charlotte. Perfect spring weather and super warm.

keeping birds out of ferns

Speaking of spring, the pollen arrived in FULL FORCE this week and my yard is covered with a blanket of pollen fronds. It sticks to Zoey’s fur like glue so I’m brushing her nonstop and vacuuming pollen from the inside of my house too. Finn has struggled a bit with allergies this week and has had a runny nose, hoarseness and coughing. Luckily, it hasn’t slowed him down and seems to be doing okay overall.

I just got ferns for my porch last Sunday and within two days I had a bird trying to nest in one. This happened last fall and while it was fun for Finn and I to watch the nesting process of nest building, egg laying, hatching and baby bird, it made a huge mess on the porch and was a little alarming to have a mama bird flying around our heads every time we opened the door. Finn’s super into dinosaurs right now so I got the idea to put a T-Rex in the fern to deter her from nest building. Pretty sure it’s going to work, haha.

Apple Watch running

Spring and fall are my two favorite running seasons and I have wanted to run so much lately. There was a stretch last week where I ran 4 out of 5 days. I try not to run consecutive days but the weather was just so pretty I couldn’t help myself. I tried to keep all of my runs in the 3.5-5 mile range. 4 has been a sweet spot lately.

I’m actually going to get some new running shoes later this afternoon because it’s been an embarrassingly long time since I replaced mine and they’re not feeling good/supportive. I would be frustrated with myself if I needed up with an injury due to something so preventable.

hot yoga dome

Okay, all week long I have been getting served an ad on Facebook for the Hot Yoga Dome. (This is not my house!!!! Just a photo from their social media.) It’s an inflatable pop-up hot yoga studio that heats within 5-10 minutes and holds the heat. They sell a variety of sizes from a tiny dome that holds one mat to a home dome that holds two to a studio that holds 12-16 mats. You guys…my mind is blown. I feel like we need to try one of these!

GHD platinum+ review

On the topic of hot things, I was desperately in need of a hair straightener upgrade. I have been using the same $40 Amazon flat iron for a couple of years and feel like it had gotten to the point where it wasn’t as effective and was also breaking my hair. Since I use a straightener so often I decided to go all out and get the GHD Platinum+. It arrived yesterday and I showered, washed and dried my hair within hours because I was so excited to try it. The flat iron was a dream! It heated super quickly, glided through my hair with no pulling or tugging and only required one slow pass to straighten. My hair felt shiny and straight after and stayed like that all day. It still looks great this morning!

The GHD Platinum+ retails for $249 but I found it on Walmart for $179-$189. It’s a lot of money to spend on a flat iron but when I think of how much I use it and how long I’ll keep it, it’s worth the splurge for sure.

Finally, please join me in wishing my Mema a very happy 91st birthday! I am so grateful for her unconditional love and support. She has truly been my rock since I was a baby and has always been such a positive and inspirational force in my life. My aunt, cousin and her two-year-old son are down there visiting with her and Finn and I cannot wait to celebrate with her in a few weeks! She reads my blog religiously so give her some birthday love below! 🙂

Have a great weekend y’all!
