Baby, It’s Dark Outside

I hope that this new week is off to a good start for all of you. Finn and I just came in from playing in the backyard and are now sitting at the kitchen table with the full Play-Doh set up going. It’s not even 5p and I’m already feeling like this…

I will like the early darkness a whole lot more once I get my Christmas decorations up and the neighborhood gets festive with lights. In the meantime…I’ll embrace the below.

Have y’all watched Squid Game yet? Crazy show. I will never think of Red Light, Green Light in the same way ever again.

I’m going to keep this post pretty casual but I do have some good stuff coming for you in the next few weeks!

Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s on the calendar:

  • Cybex AVI jogging stroller review
  • Dry needling for low back pain
  • What I’ve been reading recently
  • Rejoining the gym and where I am with workouts right now
  • Some ALDI staples
  • And much more!

WEEKEND IN DURHAM/CHAPEL HILL

Charlotte nc gifts

Last Friday I headed up to Durham to visit with my parents and to have a belated birthday celebration with my mom. I came with a few loaves of bread from Verdant, cake and cheesecake from Villani’s and PJs and a cozy blanket for my mom. My dad and I kept my plans to visit under wraps so it was fun to surprise my mom.

We are expecting some significant updates this week so I will update you guys as soon as there is a plan. In the meantime, your continued prayers are very much appreciated. <3

unc football stadium

While I was in Durham, I caught the UNC football game and what a crazy and high scoring game that was. I love the energy of college football and it made me wish I was in Athens cheering on my Dawgs in Sandord Stadium.

I was back in Charlotte by midday Sunday to pick up Finn. I asked him what he wanted to do and his response was, “just hang out.” So that’s exactly what we did. We spent about 2.5 hours in the backyard.

The lawn service had blown a bunch of the leaves around the beds of the trees. Finn and the pups had a GREAT time playing in the leaves. It provided over two hours of entertainment!

Can’t leave Zoey girl out of the photo shares. She had her eyes on the tennis ball in this photo.

HOLIDAY BAKING KICKOFF

holiday baking with a toddler

I have a holiday partnership coming up with Food Lion so Finn and I got to do some early holiday baking last week. We made reindeer cupcakes and they turned out so cute! Finn absolutely loved helping me and stayed engaged through the whole process. I’m looking forward to lots more baking fun in the weeks to come.

HOLIDAY COLLECTION AT GIRL TRIBE

I also got in the holiday spirit last week with the new Girl Tribe holiday collection. How cute is this Resting Grinch Face sweatshirt?

Girl Tribe is a Charlotte-based and women-owned (and operated!) company that a friend of mine has built from the ground up. They are doing amazing things for female entrepreneurs so I 10/10 recommend spending your dollars with them. <3

Here’s a link to the Holiday 2021 collection. You’ll find shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, koozies, ornaments, candles and more.

UPDATE

Well, it’s now 9p and I’m finishing up this post on the couch while starting the new season of Holiday Baking Championship on Food Network. Finn was in a great mood this evening but I got sucked into the vortex of cooking, laundry, bath time and bedtime before I could finish this post. Looking forward to heading up to bed soon to read. I’m so close to finishing Apples Never Fall.

QUESTIONS

What are you watching right now?

When will you decorate for Christmas?

Do you buy holiday apparel like pjs or sweatshirts? For yourself or your kids?

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
