Atlanta Long Run

We arrived at my parent’s house in Atlanta around 9:30 last night and this was waiting on us.

My parents picked up a pizza and salad for us from Grant Central Pizza. Perfect late night dinner after four hours in the car.

And then this happened and Brandon tried to document it but my camera was on food macro setting so the picture is blurry.

I might have snuck a tiny piece of peach pie. 😉

I was up and fueling for my long run at 7 a.m. this morning.

Breakfast number one was a piece of toast with Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter. My staple pre-long run breakfast.

And then I hit the road for a hilly and humid 12 miles. People are always surprised to hear that Atlanta is extremely hilly – much more so than Charlotte. It was definitely an extra challenge today. And although the temperatures were pleasant (upper 70s) the humidity was almost 90 percent. My clothes were completely drenched when I got back. Overall, it was a great run though. I ate a Vanilla GU at mile 6 that gave me a great pick me up. I felt strong and maintained a nice pace for the duration of the run.

12 miles in 1:55:03 – a 9:35 pace. I was so happy to have 12 miles done with minimal pain!

I got crazy with the yoga stretching on the front porch. It felt sooo good to stretch my tired legs.

Down dog.

Figure four – awesome hip stretch!

Forward fold with a shoulder opener.

After I showered it was time for breakfast number two. My mom was so sweet to pick up some local Atlanta Fresh Greek Yogurt for me to try.

I had the peach ginger flavor and it was awesome. So creamy and flavorful. I topped it with Nature’s Path Flax Plus Pumpkin Raisin Crunch and a fresh South Carolina peach.

Yum!

We have places to go, friends and cute babies to see and Braves to cheer on. Happy Saturday friends! 😀

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
