Whiggin' Out

Brandon loves coming up with titles for my posts – I will admit that he is much more creative than me and usually spits one out in about two seconds. I just go with it so I don’t have to think about it any more.  😉

Last night we saw The Whigs, The Black Keys and Kings of Leon and it was AWESOME. We met up with Sarah, her fiance Ryan and some of their friends for a little tailgating before the show.

My very sweet husband packed our cooler and included dinner for me.

Peanut butter and jelly + grapes. He’s a keeper. Sarah and I got a kick out of the dinner Brandon packed for himself.

Rotisserie chicken – yep, no sides. Just chicken. Guess he’s got to get that lean protein in?

The concert started with The Whigs. I’ve been talking about them on the blog this week but they were in school at the University of Georgia with us and everyone’s favorite band to see. After college they worked really hard to get their name out there –  produced a record in the basement of a fraternity house, toured tons and slept on couches all over the country. It worked for them because now they just released their second album and have been touring with some big bands – like Kings of Leon!

They only played a 30 minute set but they were rocking and played lots of our old favorites!

Next up – The Black Keys. My friend Ashley loves this band and I’ve been listening to them the last few weeks in preparation for the concert and I see why she’s a fan.

They sounded great live and had a solid 45 minute set. I’m happy that I’ve been listening to the new album because it’s nice to know some of the songs! I will most definitely be listening to these guys much more in the future.

Kings of Leon was the headliner and completely exceeded my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, I love this band and knew that they’d be great live but they were incredible. So much energy and they sounded even better live than on their album. Sadly, there aren’t that many bands you can say that about.

They played a great mix of old and new and even played a couple a songs from their new album that’s being released in October. And ladies – let’s get real – they are pretty good looking guys. 😉

Loved this show and definitely can’t wait to see all of these bands again – hopefully soon! It was a perfect Friday night!

Do you enjoy concerts? Who are some of your all-time favorite bands to see live?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
