Slacking, Working, Talking

I was not feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed (what does bushy tailed even mean anyway?) when my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning. Despite being physically exhausted, I could not sleep last night. I was wide awake until about 1 a.m. before finally dozing off. I hate sleep issues.

I hit the snooze button a few times and really questioned my desire to go to yoga. Like the good yogi I am, I drug myself out of bed. Thanks to the multiple snoozes and my lack of packing my clothes and lunch las night, I was in quite a frantic state trying to get myself out of the door. When I finally got in the car I just crossed my fingers that I had an outfit that matched for work and something that could work as breakfast and lunch.

I was the last one in class and took the very last spot in the room. We were crammed in like sardines. Not going to lie, I spent some time in child’s pose this morning. And I blatantly skipped abs. I was not even about to do abs this morning which is so unlike me but I just hung out in child’s while everyone crunched and bicycled away. It was blissful. Omm… 😉

I assembled breakfast at my desk with a medley of things from home and that I’d left in the work fridge over the week. Forgive picture quality. In my sleepy stupor I forgot to grab my camera on the way out this morning so these photos are complements of the BlackBerry.

Siggi’s yogurt (the tangiest – not for the faint of Greek yogurt heart!), a sprinkle of granola, half of a pumpkin apple muffin, strawberries and a drizzle of peanut butter. I wasn’t planning on nut butter with breakfast this morning but I packed the peanut butter for my lunch and couldn’t resist a drizzle on my yogurt creation. I have a problem!

I was really busy at work today and had a quick errand to run over my lunch break so I ate at my desk when I got back.

More peanut butter, please! Peanut butter, honey and banana on whole wheat toast. One of my favorite all-time food combinations. A salad on the side with spinach, avocado, strawberries and artichoke hearts. Gotta get those greens in.

I was tied up at work until after 6 p.m. and had dinner plans at 7 so I rushed home to quickly change and feed Sullie. I met a fabulous group of blogging friends for a dinner at Providence Cafe – organized by KERF! Kath was in town for the night and rallied the Charlotte blogging girls for a get together. It was so good to see everyone and we enjoyed great conversation on a variety of topics. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million more times – I am so lucky to have these women in Charlotte.

Bread and wine helped the conversation flow.

I chose Parmesan Crusted Flounder for dinner.

It was served over risotto with leeks and asparagus.

Big day tomorrow! My first class at the other Y that I was just hired to teach at, yoga, a lunch date with Sarah (who is getting married in THREE weeks – check out her beautiful engagement pictures that were just featured on Carolina Bride!).

Hope you guys have a great weekend! Any fun plans? Any tough workouts or long runs? I’m going to attempt to run 10-12 on Sunday.

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
