Our Own Reindeer

Look – we have our very own reindeer to go with our Christmas tree!

Sullie is one of the most tolerant dogs ever. While I admit that she does not look excited, she totally went with it to make me happy. 😉

Since I posted Sara’s guest post last night, I have lots to catch you all up on. I taught BodyPump Monday morning before work and then ate a bowl of banana eggnog oatmeal at my desk while I was prepping for a day of meetings. When I broke for lunch soup was calling my name. I dont’ know that we ever broke 40 degrees here yesterday.

Amy’s Black Bean Vegetable Soup with a dollop of sour cream and cheese. Half of an organic apple and Goldfish on the side. I ate a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar at my desk later in the day.

Brandon braved temperatures in the 20s last night to grill our dinner – we are year-round grillers!

Turkey Burgers with Cheddar, Caramelized Onions and Smoky Aioli (recipe from Bon Appetit). Roasted brussels sprouts and grilled potatoes on the side. Brandon always makes grilled sweet potato slices on the grill and recently had the idea to do the same thing with a normal potato.

He seasoned them with lots of Dizzy Pig’s Raisin’ the Steaks and we dipped in ketchup. They were so good!

I went to ashtanga this morning before work. The classes I attend are self-guided – the teacher is just there to assist. You just show up and start doing the sequence, which is memorized and the same every time. It takes me about 75-90 minutes to get through the series. Today our teacher had to leave class to teach in the second studio because another teacher was sick. I actually enjoyed going through everything completely solo without assists. I was even able to get myself into a pose that I’ve never been able to do without an assist!

This is Marichyasana D and it requires a lot of intense binding and twisting to get into it. I can’t believe I finally did it on my own without toppling over! 😀

Breakfast at my desk was overnight eggnog oats. I fully intend on using Silknog in everything throughout the holidays. Lunch was the rest of yesterday’s black bean vegetable soup and a grilled cheese.

I went to the grocery after work to restock. I hate the grocery store in the winter because I always freeze. I wore my coat and gloves the whole time I was shopping and still came home with frozen solid fingers and toes.

I have Raynaud’s phenomenon and it plagues me all winter. Random fingers and toes turn white and go numb anytime I get really cold. For whatever reason, one of the places I struggle most with it is the grocery. I also have to keep my hands very warm when I run and often double up on gloves. It’s very annoying.

I made an old favorite for dinner tonight and we enjoyed our meal at our newly decorated table.

Curry and Yogurt Braised Chicken with a salad on the side. I posted this recipe on Bakin’ and Eggs about a year and a half ago. It is easy and flavorful. A great ethnic meal for a weeknight.

Speaking of curry…I finally posted the recipe for the Curried Coconut Soup with Chickpeas!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
