Okay. I don’t know how those of you who live in places where winter weather is the norm do it. We’ve only been dealing with snow and ice for three days and I am over it. The winter weather is driving me to extreme actions.
- Yesterday I bought a space heater because all the classes like to attend at my yoga studio keep getting canceled.
- After practicing ashtanga for four out of the last five days I was so desperate to get cardio in today I briefly considered running outside. The streets didn’t seem that bad. Then Brandon told me he fell on the sidewalk walking from his office to the courthouse this morning. And then I came home from work to find an ambulance and fire truck on my street. One of my neighbors had fallen and broken her ankle. Obviously, I realized my running idea was not a bright one.
- Instead of running, I met Sarah at the Y for a cardio strength class. I voluntarily jumped rope, did burpees and box jumps. I was kind of disappointed in the class so Sarah and I hit the elliptical for about 25 minutes after so we could get more cardio in and chat. I don’t think I’ve been on an elliptical in over a year. Who am I?
- I thought my normal routine could resume tomorrow morning with a 6 a.m. ashtanga class. Yeah, no. Brandon and I just muted the TV because we heard a terrible noise outside.
You’ll notice headlights way off in the distance. That would be another car stuck on our street. Early morning travel to ashtanga doesn’t seem like the best idea now.
The good news is that my BodyPump class tomorrow evening is definitely a go and temperatures are finally supposed to warm up enough to melt this mess this weekend. AND we’re planning an overnight trip to beautiful Charleston, South Carolina this weekend where the temperatures are supposed to be in the 50s and sunny. BRING IT.
I was consoled tonight by what is possibly the ultimate comfort food.
Breakfast for dinner!
I had an egg scramble with one egg, an egg white, portobello mushrooms, diced yukon gold potato, spinach, sundried tomatoes and goat cheese. Great Harvest Dakota and a sliced orange on the side.
Off to read in bed. I’m reading What We Keep by Elizabeth Berg. I really need to work on getting through more of The Heart of Yoga tonight but I need some mindless easy reading instead.
What are you reading right now? I am always on the hunt for good books. Recently, a friend recommended a memoir about yoga, Poser: My Life In Twenty-Three Yoga Poses. I want to check this out after I finish all of my required yoga reading.
