I had a case of the Mondays today. First, I had to sub out my BodyPump class due to some shoulder issues I’m struggling with. Second, I planned on running this morning but it was pouring down rain so I couldn’t get my workout in. And third, it was just one of those days at work where I spent all day dealing with little fires. I just had that blah feeling and a ball of anxiety in my belly.
My co-worker commented on how funny the difference in my attitude was from last Monday when I was feeling on top of the world, energized and full of love. I dealt with my funk by recognizing that I was in it and then making a conscious effort to turn it around and be positive about everything that was going on.
I had lunch at my desk.
I’ve been all about the peanut butter, honey and banana sandwiches since all of my recent blogging about peanut butter and bananas.
Knowing that I needed a little cheering, Brandon offered to bring me Starbucks or kombucha this afternoon. I opted for an Awake Tea Latte since it was another cold and rainy day here in Charlotte.
Don’t judge my messy desk! I warned you that it was a crazy day. 😉
The rain finally cleared up so I decided to take Sullie for a run after work. It was overcast and a chilly 45 degrees on our run. I couldn’t get over the difference in conditions from my five miler just a few days ago.
Although my cold run was enjoyable and invigorating, I am ready to pack away the running tights and gloves!
Brandon and I went to visit his grandmother this evening and stopped to pick up a taco kit from Salsarita’s on our way home. Brandon had some crazy coupon where we got all of this food for $10.
It was quite the fiesta! This was meant to serve four (although I think it could easily serve six) and we have TONS of leftovers!
Two chicken tacos with all the fixins.
How do you deal when you’re in a funk? My commitment to an attitude adjustment + my run helped me immensely!

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
