We’re home! Well, we are actually still in Atlanta at my parent’s house but at least we’ve made it back to the U.S.
We started our trip home bright and early yesterday with a 6 a.m. wake up call for our 7 a.m. shuttle to the airport. It was about a 90 minute trip to the airport from our resort. We were more than ready for breakfast once we arrived and got checked in.
The breakfast options were rather limited in the Montego Bay airport. It was Wendy’s, Margaritaville or…
The Jamaican Bobsled Cafe! I mean really, how could we not choose the restaurant that was totally themed around Cool Runnings?
This is definitely a childhood classic for me. Who else loved this movie growing up? They have it playing on repeat in the restaurant…can you imagine working there? I’m sure they know every line!
Clearly, Brandon was thrilled to be there. The food wasn’t as photo-worthy as the experience. I had an omelet with cheese and veggies and some fruit.
We got into Atlanta around 3 but it took us a good hour to get through immigration and customs. I grew up flying internationally from the Atlanta airport but I’m still amazed every time I’m there by how busy it is (it’s the busiest airport in the country). So many people coming from and going to so many cool places. I wanted to hop a flight to Europe! 😛
My mom picked us up and after a Starbucks stop, we were reunited with the furry one. I missed her cute face all week but she had a great time hanging out with my parents golden. I’m really not sure how much she even missed us!
My parents had reservations at Fritti for dinner.
Fritti serves authentic Neapolitan-style pizza and it is truly epic. I dined at Fritti for the first time with my parents last summer and ever since then I have been telling Brandon that he had to try it. I was excited he finally had the chance to try it last night!
We started out with salads. My mom and I split the arugula salad with Roasted Beets, Granny Smith Apples, Parmigiano Reggiano, toasted hazelnuts, lemon and olive oil.
It took us quite a while to decide on pizzas since everything on the menu sounds amazing.
I chose the Sorrentina pizza with San Marzano tomato, bufala, smoked mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil, Parmigiano Reggiano and olive oil. Everything about this tasted perfect and so fresh. The smoked mozzarella and basil really made it special. I love the crust at Fritti too – it’s light and crispy with just the right amount of saltiness.
I had to take a picture of my dad’s pizza too because it was so unique. Yes, that is fried calamari on top of the pizza!
An awesome dinner at Fritti. If this restaurant were in Charlotte I would be a serious regular!
We decided to take the dogs for a walk to the local ice cream place when we got home. I have to say that I am a little desserted-out after our trip but I am not one to say no to ice cream! 😉
I had a waffle cone with dulce de leche and salted caramel. The salted caramel was so delicious. I’ve thought about making that flavor at home and now it is a must!!!
We’re going to get on the road to Charlotte soon. It is really nice to have the weekend to ease back in to the real world after vacation. I am going to post a review/recap of our week in Jamaica…it’s just going to take a while to put together! I will have it up later this weekend!
And one final shout out to all the guest posters…if you didn’t get the chance to read their posts, check them out. They did a great job!!!
