The Journey Home

We are home from the beach. It was really sad to leave our friends but I am just so grateful that we were able to be together for a fun weekend. Every time I am with this group I feel so lucky to have such amazing people in my life.

Brandon and I made the best out of our six-hour trek home. We stopped for lunch at an awesome hole in the wall seafood joint. It was recommended to us by Cristen and Graham and after some online research I knew it was exactly what we were looking for.

Enter B&J’s Seafood (like they have a website!) in Darien, Georgia. Darien is a very small coastal town located at the mouth of the Altamaha River and is known for their fresh local shrimp.

I knew B&Js was going to be good when we arrived to find it slammed with the local Sunday church crowd. I was raised in a small Georgia town so I am totally on board with small local places like B&Js.

After a quick glance at the menu we decided to split a shrimp and oyster dinner.

This was most definitely a splurge meal but worth it 100 times over.

The seafood was INCREDIBLE. I don’t think it gets better than fried oysters and the shrimp were delicious!

Since our fried seafood plate runneth over, I did convince Brandon to do the salad bar as our side instead of French fries. Hey, every little bit helps! 😉

With full bellies it was back on road to head home. My rock star husband drove for all but the last 45 minutes while I read. It was wonderful. I feel so rested and relaxed after this weekend. I slept for nine hours every night, laughed a lot, did minimal working out and ate good food. It was exactly what the doctor ordered.

After six hours of sitting in the car my body was craving a stretch. Once we got the car unloaded I unrolled my yoga mat, turned on a heater and some meditative music and lit candles in the spare room. I did about an hour of flow and then called Brandon in for the seated poses and walked him through all of the assists so that I could get deeper into them. It felt great!

We didn’t have much to choose from in the way of dinner options so I made scrambled egg black bean quesadillas. I love adding scrambled eggs to quesadillas. So good! And then I snacked on half of an organic pink lady apple with cinnamon.

Off to prepare for BodyPump tomorrow morning. We are launching BodyPump 78 and I still have choreography to learn!

Hole in the wall restaurants…yay or nay?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
