And so starts another week. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine felt pretty perfect and left me feeling rested, recharged and happy.
A couple housekeeping items:
- Many of you have followed up about my heart rate monitor and yoga experiment. Well, I’ve decided that it deserves to be a bigger “study.” I don’t think it’s fair to put a general “this is how many calories you burn” statement out there without some diversity. So here’s the plan…I’m going to wear the HRM for a variety of yoga classes over the next few weeks. Different teachers, different styles, different studios, etc. I also may enlist the help of fellow yogis to provide comparison. (Let me know if you’re interested in participating!) And then I’ll write a post about heart rate and calorie burn for several different styles of yoga (power, hot, vinyasa, ashtanga, etc. FYI: not planning on including any deep stretch or slow flow info in the study).
- Charlotte-area readers…be sure to check out my teaching schedule as I have dropped some classes (no more yoga with weights) and added others (vinyasa flow at a new club).
As much as I hate to admit it…fall is creeping in and I kind of like it. I am a total summer girl. I will take 90 degree days, peaches, tomatoes, flip flops and sundresses over chili, fires, sweaters and snow any day. That said, cooler mornings, football and pumpkin beers have been making me pretty happy since the start of September.
On Saturday night we had friends over to watch the Georgia/South Carolina game. The weather was awesome so we set a TV up on the patio.
Although someone was less than thrilled to be banished to the inside for most of the evening. 😉 (Check the window.)
We had a great dinner spread. Brandon smoked two Boston butts on his Big Green Egg and made pulled pork. I prepared cole slaw, baked beans and collards on the side. Sullie is pretty much the sweetest pup ever and never even thought about getting close to the peanut butter cookies that were perched on the edge of the table. (And she loves peanut butter as much as her mom!)
The pulled pork was excellent. We have tons of leftovers so expect this to be a repeating theme over the next week.
The Dawgs didn’t win but it was really fun to have friends over for the game. We haven’t been entertaining as much as we usually do recently and I’ll admit it’s mostly due to my crazy schedule. It was nice to slow down, work on the house, prepare a good meal and enjoy friends.
Sunday eats…
Almond butter, honey and banana on whole wheat with tortilla chips, carrots and apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon.
Post-practice snack of cheese and crackers. Aged white cheddar, colby jack and smoked gouda with crackers, apple slices and apricot preserves.
And a sushi extravaganza for Sunday night dinner. I really enjoyed this dinner out with Brandon. It was full of good and meaningful conversation. I feel lucky to be married to such an amazing man. Life is good. We are blessed.
