Well, we’ll just see how tomorrow’s 10K goes.
#1. It’s kinda cold.
We’re having a little bout of chilly weather here in North Carolina. It’s not hear to stay…it will be 85 degrees again by Tuesday…but tomorrow’s race conditions are temps in the 50s with a chance of rain. Typically, I would be a-okay with those race conditions but it’s quite a shock to the system after months of hot weather running.
I stopped by Lululemon this evening and picked up a long sleeve run shirt. I cannot stand to be cold at the start of races. Now, the big dilemma is whether to pin my number to the tank underneath or on the long sleeved shirt. Thoughts??? It will still be gray, damp and in the 50s when I finish but I also run pretty hot so I don’t know.
#2. I’m tired.
I’m not really sure what is going on with my body this week but I am worn out. I went to my normal Friday morning yoga class this morning and was so lethargic on my mat. I didn’t take any options and spent my fair share of time in child’s. What gives?
My plan is to just go with what my body is feeling in the morning. I am not going to push it and go crazy if I’m still feeling run down. I pretty much have zero desire to repeat last week’s race experience. Not one fiber of my being is interested in any kind of sprinting tomorrow.
#3. Pizza + Wine = Ideal Race Prep?

We had a Groupon for The Italian Pie so we decided to give it a try tonight. It was okay (especially given that it was a good deal) but there are definitely much better pizza options in Charlotte. Regardless, pizza night is always a winner in my book. We split a salad and a pizza. Brandon’s half had everything and mine was spinach, artichoke, onions, mushrooms and cheese. Three pieces. Done and done.
A glass of wine on the couch and a boring movie (Your Highness…terrible!!!) has me sleepy and ready for bed. Let’s hope that I can pull this off tomorrow! I’ll be back with an update sometime Saturday afternoon.

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
