Week One Done

And with Friday week one of my big career change comes to a close. My thoughts…

  • I anticipated having a lot of downtime and the opportunity to get some things done around the house that I’ve been putting off. That was so not the case. This week honestly made me wonder how on earth I taught all of these classes on top of a 40-hour per week job.
  • Things on the personal training front are falling into place and I could not be more thrilled.
  • I am overwhelmed by the support of my friends, family and fellow yogis. I don’t think I’ve gone a day this week without at least a handful of people asking me how the transition is going. And I’ve had many offers from friends to pass around my contact info. This career change would not be possible without the support of all of these amazing people. You know you are. I feel incredibly blessed to have y’all in my life!
  • Overall, I am pretty shocked by how smoothly this transition is going. I am feeling less anxiety and more confidence that I can actually pull this off.

I will continue to keep you updated on how I’m feeling and how this goes for me!

Breakfast after double yoga classes was a big bowl of pumpkin banana oatmeal. I was feeling a bit off this morning. Usually I can spend hours in the hot yoga studio without feeling uncomfortably hot or unwell – I’m just so used to it – but something was going on with my body this morning. I was starving after the 6:30 a.m. class but just figured I’d power through the 8 a.m. and eat afterward (this is not unusual for me…I don’t like to practice with food in my stomach and always eat a big breakfast after). Bad decision. By the end of class I was nauseous and on the verge of getting sick. I bought a Gatorade and slowly sipped it but didn’t feel better until coming home and taking a hot shower and eating my oatmeal.

I assembled a quinoa bowl for lunch after teaching a lunch hour yoga class. Spinach, quinoa, avocado, goat cheese, tempeh, hummus and plain Greek yogurt.

This afternoon involved a meeting at Starbucks and a “sip and see” for friends who just had a sweet baby boy. We decided to grab dinner at our favorite casual restaurant, Lebowskis. I’m not usually into bar food but they have some of the best in Charlotte.

I ordered the same thing I always order, the veggie panini. It is stuffed with all kinds of veggies and pressed with cheese on sourdough. I love to dip it in honey mustard. Weird, I know but it is delicious.

Side salad in lieu of fries or chips.

So…I think I’m going to skip my favorite yoga class in the morning and sleep in and run instead. Temperatures are supposed to drop down in the 40s tonight so running conditions will be awesome. Sunny and cool. I think I’m going to shoot for 8ish??? We’ll see.

What are your weekend workout plans? Anyone racing?

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
