We’re already on the road again but our quick stop in Athens was wonderful!
We stayed with our friends Natalie and Drew. We went to college with them and they still live in Athens. Natalie is in her final year of vet school and Drew started an awesome pizza franchise, Your Pie. It’s so much fun to have friends who still live in Athens so that we can visit and pretend like we’re in college again.
Case in point. 😛
We had dinner at Last Resort. It’s one of our favorite “nicer” restaurants in Athens. Unfortunately, I couldn’t photograph my delicious dinner due to really terrible lighting but I had the Adobo Salmon – it was grilled salmon that was marinated in chipotles and adobo, topped with pineapple salsa and served with rice and sautéed kale.
Despite our late dinner I was up a little after 8 this morning and ready to run.
It was a perfect run. I had a big smile on my face the whole time. I went sans headphones and technology and just soaked in the beautiful fall morning. I think I covered 3.5ish miles.
I run with music 90% of the time but sometimes it’s so nice to unplug and get out on the road with only the thoughts in your head and the scenery around you.
Do you run with music? If so, do you ever unplug?

After my run I picked up coffee at Jittery Joe’s. Their coffee is a must anytime we’re in Athens.
We said goodbye to Sullie, she’s staying with Drew and Natalie tonight while we’re at the wedding. She’s in doggie-heaven with since they have three dogs. I predict she will be very tired when we pick her up tomorrow.
We grabbed breakfast at Big City Bread on our way out of town. The weather was awesome for sitting outside.
I ordered a random but delicious assortment of food. Fresh fruit, cheese grits and sourdough toast with butter and jam.
It’s a BEAUTIFUL day for a wedding! See y’all tomorrow with all the details!

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

I recently traveled to Big Bear Lake, California for the inaugural Big Bear Peaks + Pines three-day stage race hosted by TransRockies Running. This was my third TransRockies event in 12 months (see also Colorado + Moab) and I’m here to tell you that they can do no wrong when it comes to race organization [...]

Happy weekend! Another week in the books! I got three runs in (6.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 5.5 miles) and I have a trail run planned for tomorrow. Total weekly mileage will end up around 30-35 miles depending on if I go for 13 or 17 tomorrow! I’m 16 weeks out from the Golden Ultra so [...]

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
