A Boston Visitor

Guess who came to Charlotte to visit!?

Alaina from The Jogging Concierge! Alaina and I have been blog friends for over a year now so I was thrilled when she told me she was planning a trip to Charlotte this fall. I am so happy to have her here!

Breakfast after teaching BodyPump this morning was overnight oats. I finished up my last minute preparations for Alaina’s visit and then headed over to Y2 to catch the 9:15 hot vinyasa. Practice was wonderful. I am in a total yoga groove right now and my practices have been feeling really good. Makes my heart (and hips and hamstrings and shoulders and whole entire body) happy.

Alaina arrived around 11:30 and once we got her settled in we went out for lunch at Fran’s Filling Station. They have a nice lunch menu with good sandwich and salad options.

I went with the turkey with apples, apricot preserves and brie…sans turkey. So it was essentially a delicious fancy grilled cheese. Salad on the side.

I had to teach late afternoon and early evening yoga classes. In between classes I was able to give Alaina a little driving tour of Charlotte. She tackled the hills in our neighborhood and went for a run while I was teaching my second class.

She had one “must visit” request for her trip. Mellow Mushroom!

Given my serious pizza love (once a week, baby!), I was more than happy to accommodate her request! We ordered a round of beers and then got busy picking out our pizza.

Brandon and I split a Lil’ Greek to start. I am so obsessed with this salad. The Esperanza dressing is just so addictive.

Between the three of us we split a large pizza. One half “Mellowterranean” and one half “Philosopher’s Pie.” I really think that Mellow Mushroom has THE best pizza dough. It’s crispy while still being thick and chewy and coated in parmesan. Yum.

We immediately changed into PJs and got busy on the couch blogging when we got home. And note the candy corn stash fueling us through! 🙂

I convinced Alaina to cancel her hotel reservations for tomorrow night and stay with us again. After she meets up with a high school friend for dinner we have big plans to watch Bridesmaids!

Sullie is especially happy that she’s staying! Enjoy! 🙂

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
