The End Of Atlanta

We are back in Charlotte and I am happily planted on the couch working on the blog and planning for my hot class and bootcamp tomorrow. I really enjoyed visiting with my family but being home feels really good.

And now, time to catch you up on the remainder of our visit to Atlanta.

We went out for a family dinner last night at Maggianos. It was nice to dress up a bit and get out of the house. My grandmother came to stay with us for Thanksgiving and I loved spending time with her. 🙂

I was so in the mood for a salad after all the Thanksgiving eats. Knowing the portion size at Maggianos, I knew there would be plenty of sharing if I needed bites of pasta.

I was totally right. Even with my help, my grandmother and Brandon couldn’t finish their meals! I hardly put a dent in my salad.

Brandon and I ventured out to a concert after dinner. One of our favorite bands from Athens, The Whigs, were playing at a music venue close by.

We’ve been following these guys for so long…8 years? It’s been fun to watch them grow! They opened for Black Keys and Kings of Leon last year! It was a great show. They have a new album coming out in a few months.

Breakfast this morning was half of a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and honey before setting out on another run. I was hoping to practice yoga today to keep up with the 62 day challenge but after yesterday’s disastrous practice, I decided to save my money (while making sure I actually got a good workout in!) and run. I will just double up a couple of times next week to make up for my missed challenge days. My run was awesome and I covered 5 miles. I’ve run 12 miles in three days. That’s more than I’ve run in months!

After I got showered we headed over to visit with our friends Becky and Eric who were also in town visiting family. They are some of our closest friends from law school but we live very far away. It was great to spend time with them and their adorable 2-year-old twins!

It was so great to see the twins. It makes me sad that we are so far away from some of our closest friends and rarely get to see their children. Isn’t it crazy how you can be so close to people at one point in your life but then you are separated by miles and different lives and things become so different? I miss our law school friends all the time. I am the first to admit that I’m not the best at keeping up with friends who live far away and it’s something I really want to get better about. I am so lucky to have such special people in my life.

After the twins went down for a nap, we went to Taco Mac for lunch + watching UGA beat up on Georgia Tech. I wasn’t starving so I went with a salad and soup.

Chicken tortilla soup. It was just okay but the company was excellent!

After lunch, we tackled four hours on I-85 north and arrived home around 8. I cannot wait to teach AND take tomorrow…I haven’t taught since Wednesday and haven’t practiced at the studio since Tuesday. Itching to get back to it!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
