Hello from Georgia!
Sullie and I arrived at my grandmother’s house around 1 p.m. and she has been glued to Mema’s side ever since!
Backing up…I made it out of bed around 6:45 this morning and promptly made breakfast and worked on some blog stuff.
I have been on such a bagel kick lately. I had half a whole wheat bagel with butter and cream cheese.
I got on the road around 8:30 and made a stop by Starbucks. Coffee was very necessary to get me through the rainy four hour drive. I passed the time by listening to an audio book.

Around 11 I became so hungry that I had to stop and get a snack. There was no way I was going to be able to make it two more hours until lunch. I picked up string cheese and this Nature Valley Granola Thin at a gas station. The string cheese was delicious. The granola thing was not. Bleh.
Sullie is so happy to be here. She has always been such a good traveler and never gets anxious about new places or people. She is all about car trips and adventures.
My grandmother had a delicious lunch of soup, chicken salad, cheese and crackers ready and waiting. She makes the best soups and chicken salad. I love lunch at my grandmother’s house. It’s always some fun “taste of this, taste of that” kind of thing.
I spent a couple of hours chatting and letting my food digest before heading to the gym and grocery to get supplies for tonight’s dinner. There is a really nice gym here that I always visit when I’m in town. I knocked out five miles on the treadmill and then did a quick strength/abs circuit.
I cooked dinner for my grandmother. On the menu…panko and parmesan crusted tilapia, roasted brussels sprouts and rice with cheese, garlic and spinach. I have had this rice recipe from Elly Says Opa! starred in my Google Reader for months and I’m so glad I finally made it. Pretty much my idea of the perfect food…carbs and cheese with a some vegetables mixed in. 😉
After dinner it was time for Christmas! To get into the holiday spirit, I made a cup of Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Green Tea. I haven’t seen my grandmother since Thanksgiving and we agreed to wait until we saw each other in January to exchange gifts. See the small gift bag in the center? My grandmother and I have been exchanging that bag for over 10 years. We alternate who takes it home every year. It’s a fun tradition.
Sullie was most helpful with the gift opening.
The evening wrapped up with a bowl of vanilla ice cream topped with a cookie and chocolate syrup.
So happy to be here! Plans for tomorrow include baking maple oatmeal scones for breakfast, mani/pedi, TJ Maxx trip, cardio and a BodyFlow class at the gym and dinner with my dad and grandmother.
And now I’m off to read my new book and sleep for as many hours as possible! Hope your Saturday was wonderful!
