Shaking

I am happy to be sitting down right now.

It’s 8 a.m. and I’ve already done 150 dead lifts and 150 pushups. I was shaking after the workout.

Ashley, Shannon and Elizabeth from Lululemon joined me bright and early at Metro to do the CrossFit workout of the day. It was 10 rounds of 15 dead lifts and 15 pushups. It definitely pushed me outside of my normal workout comfort zone.

I didn’t think it sounded so bad but then I had to drop my dead lift weight half way through the WOD and the pushups were killer. We had to lower all the way down to our stomachs and then push back up and lift our hands. I could only jump my hands for the first two rounds before they literally would not leave the floor no matter how hard I tried! Happy to have that done for the day. I was planning on doing cardio after but that will just have to wait until later. I’m beat.

I was so proud of myself for preparing my breakfast in advance (although I did drink a shot of espresso and eat a cookie at 6:15 a.m. before leaving for the gym! ;)). Last night I made overnight oats in a sunflower seed butter jar. Yum!

I made a really good dinner last night that was quick and easy to prepare.

I cooked quinoa and black beans with chicken broth and then stirred in leftover shredded chicken. I topped it with pepper jack cheese, salsa, sour cream and hot sauce and served it over spinach. What is the only thing missing from this plate? I was out of avocado!

I came home for lunch yesterday. I would like to point out that my veggie burger is on an English muffin and not open faced. Little changes! 🙂

Okay, I’m off to teach a yoga private and get this day going. The sun is shining and I feel so grateful for my new job. I’m loving it!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
