The Cure For A Doggy Bad Day

Hi there! Yesterday I took the day off from blogging because I pretty much had no desire to take pictures of my food or write about my day. It was busy but nothing special. I also took the day off from exercise because I was long overdo a rest day. I had intentions of running and doing the CrossFit WOD but then I found myself still sitting at my desk at 6:30 p.m. and had to teach yoga at 7:15. Oh well.

I slept in a little this morning and then made breakfast. Plain Greek yogurt with banana, Emily’s Sweet Honey Almond Hungrynola (<— so obsessed with this stuff), blackberries (that were on sale for $.99 and are so sweet) and sunflower seed butter.

Sullie was in a serious doggy funk so I worked from home this morning. Know what cures a bad mood for dogs?

Quality time and a change of scenery! I brought Sullie into work with me this afternoon to get her out of the house and also because she had an appointment with the vet for a checkup later this afternoon. Her attitude has done a 180 since arriving. She’s getting lots of pats and attention and loves looking out the windows in my office.

I packed my lunch to eat at work. I made the most delicious and filling sandwich. I mashed avocado and goat cheese together and spread it on Great Harvest Flax Oat Bran. Added tempeh, tomatoes, spinach, dijon mustard and a healthy dose of salt. So good.

All together and plated at my desk. Green apple and rosemary and sea salt kettle chips on the side. For the record, it is nearly impossible to cut an apple with a plastic knife but I made it happen. I really like to eat apples in slices and not bite into it. Weird, I know.

And now it’s time to go visit the dentist…which I am actually looking forward to! We’re so lucky to have a dentist just two doors down from us and she’s a member of the club. I’m going to pop over for a cleaning and hope everything looks good. I love getting my teeth cleaned. Again, a little weird!

Have a good day!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
