Rainy Day Home Workout

The weather is a little crazy here in Charlotte today. I awoke to sunshine, a cool breeze and blue skies and immediately set off on a beautiful three mile run with Sullie.

By the time I’d showered and gotten ready for work, it looked like this outside. Gray skies and lots of rain. Judging from Twitter and Facebook, it sounds like quite a few of you are experiencing similar weather where you are so I thought today would be a great day to share a workout you can do at home. While  you might stay dry from not having to be out in the rain, I can’t promise that you won’t be drenched in sweat at the end of this one. 😉

If once isn’t enough, repeat 2 or 3 times! And because I’m a complete crazy about making sure that my students/clients are performing movements and exercises correctly, here is a quick iPhone video with a demo of the exercises.

Enjoy and let me know what you think about the workout! Performing body weight exercises is one of the easiest ways to workout with minimal equipment and minimal stress on the body.

Here’s a random sampling of some recent meals.

I met some old co-workers at Crisp for lunch yesterday. Crisp specializes in built-to-order salads. I went with a mix of spinach and spring mix, walnuts, blue cheese, craisins, pears and tomatoes with grilled chicken and honey mustard. All the toppings kind of sunk to the bottom but they were abundant and the mix was delicious!

Post-run breakfast this morning was overnight oats. Running always makes me crave a cold breakfast. This wasn’t much to look at but it tasted great. I mixed oats, almond milk, goat yogurt, chia seeds, cinnamon, dried cranberries, bananas and apples. I mixed it all together in an empty TJs peanut butter jar and then topped it with a little bit of pumpkin butter.

Go workout and have a good day! 😛

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
