Score Your Own And Build Your Own

Happy Wednesday! (Is it just me or does the term “Hump Day” kind of creep you out?) This short week is flying by. I need it to slow down a bit! I sound like a broken record but my days have been devoted to getting ready for the opening of our new location – things like preview workouts, the grand opening party and building the website. The site is taking the bulk of my time (and consumes my thoughts) but I’m having a lot of fun with it.

Check out the latest development over at Metro CrossFit – wall murals! How awesome are these silhouettes that we had painted behind the racks? In other CrossFit news, last night’s workout was amazing. Maybe one of my favorites yet!

The board looks a little confusing but here is what we did…

– 2 minutes of AbMat sit ups, as many reps as possible
– 2 minutes of push ups, as many reps as possible
– 5 strict hang pull ups (I used a thin band)

x 3 rounds

Rest for 1 minute, THEN…

– 3 minutes of burpees while holding dumbbells, as many reps as possible (just one round of this)

The workout was scored rather than timed. I love scored workouts, especially when they are multiple rounds and  require keeping track of your score with chalk. I am really competitive with myself and like to try to maintain a constant effort throughout the rounds. Last night I made myself do 50 push ups in each 2 minute set. Sit ups varied a little. I was able to squeeze in about 40 burpees at the end but I lost count at one point so I was conservative with my number. Call me crazy but burpees are my favorite. Holding dumbbells while doing them was even more fun! 🙂

My total score was 374 reps for the workout! I was super happy with that.

I went to Which Wich for lunch today. If you’re not familiar with Which Wich, it’s a built-to-order sandwich chain. You pick up a bag when you walk in and fill out all of your choices for your sandwich. They have tons of topping and sauce options. Once you complete your bag you take it to the register and pay. They send your bag through the line and you pick up your sandwich at the end.  This is heaven for an indecisive person like me because I can take my time filling it out rather than being rushed through the line.

Today’s selection was turkey, pepper jack, honey mustard, light mayo, banana peppers, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, black olives, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano toasted on wheat. Yummm!

Polka Dot Bake Shop is in the same shopping center as Which Wich. That, of course, meant that there was no chance of me making it out of lunch without a cupcake. I split a key lime cupcake and it was so very delicious and worth the random Wednesday afternoon splurge. Cupcakes are always worth the splurge.

Off to run and teach some yoga. Have a great evening!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
