Hey guys! I’m alive…just having to prioritize at the moment and work is currently ranking #1. On Monday night we had a Coach’s WOD at our new location. It was our first time working out there and it was awesome!
What was NOT awesome, on the other hand, was the workout that our Director of Crossfit planned for us.
It was so nicely called “Dirty Bitches” and involved us doing three of the girl WODs.
Fran
21 – 15 – 9 (three rounds, decreasing reps)
– Thrusters
– Pull ups
Karen
– 150 wall balls (my dream come true)
Elizabeth
21 – 15 – 9
– Power Cleans
– Ring Dips
I broke the wall balls up into 15 sets of 10. It was pretty much as terrible as it sounds. I completed the workout in around 23 minutes but I didn’t do the prescribed weight for anything. There was no way that was happening. Regardless, I was still physically shaking at the end. It was brutal!
We are all so excited about the grand opening of the new location! Metro CrossFit & Training Center opens next Monday and we’ll be offering FREE classes all week. If anyone in the Charlotte area wants to come try out a class, please email me and I’ll get you set up – jen (at) metrofitnessclub (dot) com.
Other items of note…
My car went crazy and I had to spend yesterday morning camped out at the Honda dealership. Luckily, they have workstations and I was able to get a lot done. And I spent $415. Awesome. I cannot complain though. My Accord is just shy of 100,000 miles and this is the first maintenance I’ve had to do on it other than oil changes/tire stuff.
I decided that I needed a relaxing lunch break in the midst of yesterday’s craziness and finally tried Fern. It’s a vegan/vegetarian restaurant that opened last fall and has been receiving amazing reviews. One of my yoga students is the executive chef and I have been dying to try it and to support her. She was so sweet to send out the bruschetta appetizer – warm vegetable ragu over charred garlic bread.
I wanted to branch out and order some of the more creative dishes on the menu but I had heard such great things about the Om Burger that I couldn’t resist. The burger is a mix of white beans, tofu and hemp seed and was finished off with pickled fennel, smoked tomato chow chow and jalapeño aioli. I also added goat cheese to mine and it was served on a homemade bun. This was by far the most delicious veggie burger that I’ve ever had. I ordered the seasonal veggies on the side and got a generous cup of freshly sautéed vegetables. Much thanks to Alyssa for a wonderful lunch! I cannot wait to go back to Fern and try other dishes. Alyssa told me they have a new menu launching next week!
Alright, time to get back to it. I do need to squeeze in a run to celebrate National Running Day though!
