Feeling Supported – Opening Week!

I’m so happy to finally check in! We survived opening day of Metro CrossFit & Training Center on Monday…and it was a HUGE success! We’re offering free classes all week to anyone in the community that wants to check out our new facility as part of our preview week. Classes have been packed and the energy has been amazing.

I have felt lucky and grateful this week for the support of my amazing friends, the yoga community and fellow bloggers. So many of them have either come in for a class or wished me luck and helped spread the word.

Miriam of Bellaspire was in Charlotte on Monday and stopped by Metro so we could finally meet in person. She was so thoughtful to bring me a goodie bag full of her Whole Foods favorites and to congratulate me on the opening. I can’t wait for her to come back soon so that we can workout together and go on a Lululemon shopping extravaganza! 😉

My friend, yoga student and fellow blogger Dominique came in to try a CrossFit class and loved it. She’s an endurance athlete and was impressed by the challenge that high intensity training provided. She’s already signed up to come back again later this week! Be sure to check out her blog – especially if you’re into triathlons!

I loved meeting blog reader Sarah who brought her brother along with her to class. Read all about her first experience with CrossFit on her blog.

Our director of CrossFit was evil (in a good way!) and made the opening day WOD “Fight Gone Bad.” We did it partner-style so it was fun to watch everyone cheering each other on and working hard.

This is my friend Deb and she totally crushed the workout. She’s a machine! But I think the consensus was that the foam rolling at the end was the best part after FGB!

How have I been surviving all of this craziness?

Coffee and dark chocolate.

Dinner the last two nights has been grilled cheese. On Monday night it was consumed in bed at 10:30 p.m. before I passed out for 11 hours. Last night I got a little more serious with it and added heirloom tomatoes and pancetta.

More caffeine. Espresso shots. I did manage to get a healthy breakfast in this morning. Plain greek yogurt, bananas, homemade granola, blackberries, blueberries and maple peanut butter.

Time to work! Have a good day!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
