Distraction

Today was really tough. I woke up at 7:30, let Sullie outside and then forced myself back to sleep. I woke up again at 9:10, just in time to realize that it was the moment I would normally be stepping into the studio to teach the Sunday morning yoga class that I’ve taught for over a year. And then I cried.

I tried to run to take my mind off of it.

And then I made French toast and only managed to choke down about half of it. Sullie was more than happy to help with the leftovers.

And then I cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer. Yep.

The distraction techniques/attempt at relaxation continued this afternoon with pool time. I am very, very grateful to have some pretty amazing people in my life.

I am also grateful for cute puppies. Especially those down for cuddling.

Laying out in the sun is so exhausting! 😉

I had dinner with a friend tonight. We originally planned on meeting at the new Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar and discovered it was closed on Sunday. Plan B was sushi and it was closed! We ended up at Rooster’s because it’s next to the sushi restaurant. Rooster’s is one of my favorite go-to restaurants in Charlotte so I’m happy we ended up there. Neither of us was starving so we split a salad and a cheese plate and spent a couple of hours talking over wine.

I’m planted on the couch now and getting ready for a short week. I’m headed to the beach on Wednesday for a wedding. I’m so ready to see the ocean and I’m also excited because Sullie can come and she LOVES the beach!

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

Breakfast + What I Bought at Trader Joe’s

I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. 95% of the time I’m craving a breakfast that is on the sweet side. That mostly alternates between smoothies or yogurt bowls with overnight oats, chia pudding or oatmeal occasionally thrown in there. On the rare occasion I go savory – it’s scrambled [...]

Life Lately: Summer So Far

Life Lately: Summer So Far

I want to bottle up this summer and make it last forever (well, maybe minus the wildly hot and humid weather that makes running a big thumbs down). I mentioned this in my last post…but I am really enjoying the slower pace and the days that feel like they have more space. While I’m trying [...]

So Many Dinner Ideas

So Many Dinner Ideas

Happy Friday! I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are in the dog days of it over here in Charlotte – the heat and humidity is off the charts – but it’s something I’ll embrace because I deeply appreciate the massive slow down that summer has brought. A lot of [...]

Life Lately: 8 Years Old, A New Piercing, Trail Training and More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a very rainy one here in Charlotte and while I am a little bummed not to be spending the weekend in Florida with the fam or by the pool at our swim club (just opened for the season!), I’m also welcoming a slower pace and time at home. It’s been [...]
